Yes, I will be watching this with interest. The EBD-LE that I have owned for 35 years needs a new playfield also - and like you I'm more than a bit intimidated to attempt it.
My playfield is not in as bad a shape as yours, but it is clearly the part most in need of help. I do plan to do it someday, and I'll be watching how your project turns out. Best of luck to you.
