No. That diode on the solenoid expander has nothing to do with the voltage path to the playfield solenoids.
Post some clear pictures of all the small drop coils on that drop target bank that includes their diodes in the images. Also a picture of the saucer coil plus pics of the two big drop target coils you've rewired.
BTW, the second picture in your first post shows the coil sleeve is installed upside down.
