I'm not sure how those two problems could be related other than a bad ground or maybe a leaky filter cap. What's the history on this machine? You might wanna go through each board systematically, rebuild them if they haven't been rebuilt properly, reflow any bad solder joints, check for anything suspect, specifically on the solenoid driver board.
