Hi, i am supposed to trade for a 1981 EBD. Guy states the serial # is EED8754 . But it does not have the white paint around backbox, its black. Is this a '81 machine? I cant find any info. regarding. Dont they make a vinyl skin to apply overtop of the playfield? Here are some pics.

A guy out in Az. made up some overlays some years ago. I put one on my 8BDLE, because the PF was hammered big time, like down to the wood hammered.
As I understand, he got a cease and desist letter from Bally, as they still own the rights to the artwork.

Yours doesn't look bad enough to overlay. I'd touch up and clearcoat.
If you're a terrible artist, such a I am, do what I did: Go to your local High School. Ask art teacher if there is a student who can handle the touch up. I really got lucky, a girl who lived just down the road can touch those things up perfectly. My Star Trek had a ball track almost down to the wood, now you have to be 6 in away to tell, letters and all.
Unfortunately, after 2 yrs, she moved away to college, got a boyfriend, etc. But she did 4or5 , and I paid her $50 a piece.

Thanks! I had overlays printed here for my 8 playfields. The original playfields were all over the place, same as Sorcerer. You should try for a replacement playfield, or try another vendor for improvements.
