Looking for a little help... had to drill out an EBD back box lock and need a replacement. It looks like the lock mechanism is some sort of latch/lever? Can't quite tell (the backside of the lock fell off during drilling and is lost). If someone could take a picture (or, send me a link to a new one) I'd be really appreciative.

Thanks!

There are 3 different versions of the Eight Ball Deluxe cabinet...

#3 8 years ago

This has the lock on the side of the head. I believe it's a 1984 make... (not the LE version).

The backglass opens on a hinge that's on the left side.

Did you have to lift the glass out to access the boards or does the entire front swing open on a hinge?

#5 8 years ago

that's the Bally/Midway cabinet.

My 8BDLX is the LE

#6 8 years ago

The whole thing swings open.

It's the Bally Cabinet

Damn...my Bally Playboy cab is slightly older...I have to lift the glass then swing open the light board to get to the boards.

Any chance the lock stuff you lost is down there in the bottom cab someplace?

You would be doing yourself a HUGE favor by finding the lost parts. You would hate to see it get tangled up in something electrical. Plus you can reuse some parts with the new lock to make it any easy fix.

I am only guessing, but I am thinking it is a standard cam lock -

Of course... the piece did not fall inside of the machine. It was misplaced.

I think I need a notched cam lock...it looks to me like the lock latches down over a little cylinder/bar that sticks out from the side of the door. See the pic.

I just don't see any reference to this kind of a lock anywhere.

Just giving this a bump

#11 8 years ago

I don't think there's any hope, guess you will have to trade it to me for my Bally Playboy.

#12 8 years ago

LOL...

There has to be hope.

I'm getting you a pic. Gimme a sec...

This is the Bally/Midway cab back box, same as yours. The lock is new but the cam is from the old lock. Space Invaders has a similarly long, curved cam. They must be available somewhere.

They're not available anywhere....

I remember looking for this part a few years back.

Give me a day or two. I'll see if I can dupe you one at work.

Sounds like a side business is starting

For some reason the latch goes missing on a lot of these games. Joe

Not hard to do if you have access to the right gear. Have to make sure I have the proper size square hole drill bit.

Mk1Mod0,

I had to machine one a while back for one of my machines.

I have the CAD file, if you need it.

I might take you up on it...I'm going to search high and low for it today. If I can't find it, I'll hit you up with a PM.

Thanks guys!

If anyone has an extra one, let me know!

We may be in business. I'll take these test cuts home tonight and check the fit on the lock cam. If one of them fits well, the rest is easy.

CAD file? Thanks but I'm not quite that advanced. I'll punch the square, add a round hole at the proper place and plasma out the rest by hand.

Nice!

So the big one is too big and the little one is too small, by maybe a 16th of an inch? So next I'll try to do a little filing on a full cut out. Should work pretty good.

#25 8 years ago

MK1 Mod1 - I'm pretty certain this will do just fine. Trying another method this afternoon that will give me a square hole instead of a slot.

Very cool. Thanks!

MK2 Mod0 - Round peg, square hole? I'll test these tonight but I'm pretty sure they'll work. If the OP will pm an addy I will send it out as a test, el freebo.
