The event will move to October (due to the Silverball Rodeo being so close in dates) next year and we will once again try to tweak the format so we are not playing as long or make it simply a two day event. Till next year!!!!

It was fun,to bad it ran so late.
When did you guys finally finish.

    Congrats DRT

    #59 6 years ago

It ran till 9:30pm. They run this exact format in the US for PinMasters except it is a 72 person tourney and they run 36 players on the afternoon and 36 at night and run it over three days. Because it is such a long format we may consider doing the qualifying on a Sat and playoff on Sunday but we need commitment from out of town people on this. A lot of people like to back same day and not spend a night in god forbid Edmonton lol... Something we are willing to get feedback on in a future event.

Most of us went back last night.
Depending on format, and player commitment. I could stay another day.
    Would 3 ball work,instead of 5.

    #61 6 years ago

It would dramatically change the format and a possibility of less IFPA points too but it could be done puts a lot of pressure for competitors to achieve a target in those three balls. The targets lowering would definitely cut an hour or two from tournament time.

The DHPL League Championship Series is the biggest International Flipper Pinball Association (IFPA) sanctioned pinball league in the Edmonton area. We are now in our 6th year of running the league.

This year all of the events will be played at the new Arkadium Retro Arcade in Sherwood Park in 2020 and run every two weeks on Thursdays. (July/August/December are league breaks).

The events are for all skills group and ages (13+) its a great opportunity to come out play with a group of people who love to play the old silverball.

On each league night there will be 6 pinball games played, and you will be put into random groups of 3 or 4 players on a randomized machine. Depending on how you finish on each machine you will be assigned a score of 1st - 7 points, 2nd - 5 points, 3rd - 3 points, 4th - 1 point. The top 8 in each night will play in a playoff round to determine who is the winner of that night.

The standings of each night will be submitted to the IFPA and you will be awarded World Pinball Players Ranking points that will give you an opportunity to see you ranking in the entire world of pinball.

Over the course of the 19 events the IFPA points will be added up to give you your final standing and give you your ranking going into the DHPL Championship Finals. Everyone who plays events throughout the year qualifies for the DHPL Championship Finals and we will award plaques to all of the division winners.

These points will also give you a chance at representing yourself at the Alberta Provincial Pinball Championships with the winner given a free trip to the North America Pinball Championships.

Cost: $50 to pre-register entire season.
Drop In: $5 each event night

Please note: You must also pay the Arkadium Retro Arcade entrance fee at the door. A special rate of $12.50 + GST will be in effect for each of these night for anyone who visits the arcade.

Hope to see you out to the best pinball league in the Edmonton area in 2020!!!!

To retain our non-profit status, Die Hard Pinball League will be hosting their Annual General Meeting.

    When: Nov 17, 2019
    Time: 1:00pm
Where: Agora Centre (Room 3), 401 Festival Ln, Sherwood Park, AB, T8A 3W7

At that time we will be:

    1. Providing an overview of the year in review, the changes to the current league, taking in any questions or suggestions for the Season 6 and discussing the up and coming YEGPIN - Pinball and Arcade Expo.

    2. Taking registrations for current and new members for the new 2020 DHPL League Championship Series.

    3. Voting on the expiring executive positions for the Die Hard Pinball League.

If you are interested in joining the pinball league as a full time member the fee will be $50 for the year, this will give you access to 20 events during the year at Arkadium Retro Arcade and voting privileges for the executive positions.

This will be the only chance to get the discounted fee, if you are only interested in playing part time or dropping in once in a while the drop in fee will be $5 each time you come and play a DHPL Championship Series event.

Please note full time members get first crack at slots each night so if we are full you may not get to play on any given night.

    Hope to see you out!!!
