guy writes some good riffs and had good tone which is way more important then going weedly weedly on guitar
Van halen was the rare guy who can write and go weedly weedly at a high level, most flashy guitar players cant write to save their lives.
Plus I think he's like 85 years old or something.. miracle he can play at all.

Been listening a lot to their best album lately, Fair Warning. Man does it rock--some of EVH's best guitar work. Dave even actually sings well on it, too.
A real shame no one ever could get Eddie to do a solo album, a missed opportunity for his fans.

And its like 30 minutes long or something... their records were really short but you always felt like you got your monies worth.

That was great! I'm not sure how I ever missed it, but I had no clue they ever went on Donahue. I love how they went "G" rated for about a minute and then started lighting up the crowd, calling them liars.

Gene did discover and produce VH demo, that is fact. Obviously thou would have been tragic if Eddie joined KISS though.
