It really makes you wonder how in the hell is Ozzy Osbourne still alive?

#7 3 years ago

Wow, this is hard to believe

#8 3 years ago

Eddie lived hard, surprised he made it this long. One of the best.

Better cocaine.

2020 just keeps on giving. RIP Eddie, thanks for the music

damn.....that really sux!! Eddie was the best!!!

#16 3 years ago

One of Dimebag Darrell’s idols. I remember reading when he passed away that Eddie V put one of his guitars in the coffin with him, or buried it with him, something like that.

Sad day. Another awesome musician...gone.

Yes that’s true it was the guitar on the back of VH2. Inside a KISS coffin.

I would totally rock a Van Halen pin....

Give me the 5150 red/white/black striped guitar-style cabinet please.

RIP Eddie!

Eddie believes he got throat cancer from holding a metal pick in his mouth all those years. He has been battling throat cancer for the last 10 years.

#21 3 years ago

Awful news, but sadly not unexpected. He has been fighting throat cancer for almost 20 years and has not looked well at all the past few times he has been seen in photos.

Another giant gone, with absolutely no one to fill the shoes; soon all we will have left is Imagine Dragons...

RIP...one bad ass guitar player. I had always hoped for a legit reunion with DLR, was never meant to be...Fair warning, diver down, 1984, VHII, among the best albums ever made.

#23 3 years ago

Wow this is shocking news. He was a legend and one of the greatest guitarists ever. So glad that I had the pleasure to see him in concert twice. What a bummer this is......

RIP Eddie

#24 3 years ago

Yah he had a rough go of it with cancer for quite a while..

I got to meet him once since my girlfriend at the times best friend knew Alex's wife really well so got the whole VIP backstage thing.

As a kid who grew up playing guitar it was like meeting a real life super hero and I was shitting myself nervous (which is not like me)

He could not have been any nicer or cooler to me... Alex was kind of a dick though.

Speechless! R.I.P. EVH

Well, this might not be popular but Ozzy might still be alive because he is a happy nice guy whereas EVH seemed to be a asshole. He seemed to alienate everyone he came into contact with at one point or another.

FAIR WARNING
Eddie's finest moment, his best writing, and least selling DLR album.
Innovator, genius, hero.
RIP.

Well that just sucks. What a talent and seemed to be a good guy. I was always fascinated watching his interviews about his playing. RIP indeed.

#29 3 years ago

Huge Loss.. His music has been a big part of my life.

RIP Eddie! You will be missed.

They did do one last album together, which is absolutely on fire. The tour was hit or miss but it was still a sight to see. This. Is bad news.

#34 3 years ago

He singlehandedly made many of us '70s/'80s kids want to play guitar, and then put lines of electrical tape on said guitar to make it look like his. RIP!

Awesome shot. Good little cameo from Papa too

#36 3 years ago

He's the king. Most influential and copied guitarist who's walked this planet. To lose Neil and Eddie in the same year...just brutal.

#37 3 years ago

This year cannot end soon enough!

#38 3 years ago

Man...
One I grew up with.
You know what makes a band great?
They are able to establish a "sound."
Once that "sound"was established,
you knew who it was immediately upon hearing it.
Eddie did that.
Farewell.

#39 3 years ago

Kinda takes the wind outta you. Thoughts and prayers for family and friends. This sucks.

Yeah it was probably that.

Not the 50 years of smoking.

Eddie was unequaled when playing guitar but nobody was lining up for his medical advice.

#41 3 years ago

I saw them quite a few times. I remember us kids being heartbroken when we heard that EVH had kicked DLR out of the band. There would be no more VH. Van Hagar was good, maybe better but it was different. I took my son to see them on their last tour where DLR sat and ranted about God knows what for 30 minutes. Glad i got to see them one last time.

#42 3 years ago

Damn sad day but he wrestled Cancer for a while. How great to be alive the same time as Eddie and growing up listening to them

He will go down as one of the greatest

Thanks for the soundtrack to my childhood and beyond

RIP Eddie

Drinking and smoking is pretty much the way to get throat and mouth cancer. That and reflux.

#44 3 years ago

Damnnnnnn.....Fu☆}ing shitty ass year.
One on the best guitarist ever.
RIP

#45 3 years ago

Here's to no brown M&M's backstage in that great gig in the sky. RIP Eddie.

#46 3 years ago

Wow, 80s icons are really starting to go...depressing.

I saw that post and then the one right after with the video of him blowing giant smoke rings and immediately thought, "Yeah, sure, it was the metal pick"

Rest in Peace EVH though, dude ripped.

#48 3 years ago

This sucks, sad news. EVH was one of the best of all time and definitely had his own sound and style. RIP but his music will live forever.

#49 3 years ago

It is a sad day. Thank goodness his music will be played for many years to come.
