Eight Ball Deluxe
Bally, 1981Hello. I've restored my EBD with all new boards, mostly all new connectors - all connections to all boards in the game are new. I keep getting this 2 note alarm tone that is one high note then one low note that goes back and forth like a siren warning alarm then the game stops and machine reboots quickly to 'just flipped on' state. It happens in a couple seconds. It has new rectifier board, etc. Everything is new. Anyone know what is wrong?!! Thanks!

could be a pinched wire associated with one.
Thanks for your help. I forgot about the coin door tilt. I checked its transistor and it's good. Nothing appears to be wrong with it at all. I'll have to go over them all again for wiring issues. No clue now. There's a giant red capacitor towards the back of the cabinet inside on the left side, standing in front of it, attached to a small box along the ground wire. I wonder what that is and if it could do this? I'll have to check on that also. Right now, no luck.

That's a varistor, has nothing to do with your problem unfortunately.
I'd try unplugging the top-right connector from the mpu and boot up. If the problem stops, it's in the playfield slam-tilt circuitry.
If the problem persists with the top-right connector unplugged, try unplugging the lower-right connector on the mpu and boot up. If it goes away, then the problem is with the slam-tilt circuitry for the cabinet.
If the problem persists with both of those connectors unplugged, I'd presume a problem with the MPU (though I'd be surprised since it's new).

If the problem still happens after disconnecting the coin door and playfield slam tilt, then shut the game off while it’s resetting. Make note of what drop targets are down and report them here.
That is a slam. (not a tilt) The slam is designed to shut the game down and reboot to prevent physical abuse. There are 2 slam switches. One on the front door and another in the cabinet. Make sure they are not too sensitive.
This could also be a matrix sneak path issue. does the slam seem to be linked to hitting a specific target? Make sure you do not have a stuck switch in the matrix.
