Quoted from Aurich:

Or, he makes enough money with his inflated prices selling to people who don't know better or don't care about the price that he can stay in business irregardless of his rep within the community.
Don't you think it's somewhat telling that yes, I've never dealt with him, and yet I immediately knew him as the "ridiculously overpriced eBay guy"? And that's eBay, land of high prices!

Sorry. Pinball machines are not food or fuel or any kind of necessity. If Steve (or you or anyone) can get their asking price, good for them and God Bless America. We live in a free, capitalist country and we are not socialists (not yet anyway). If you don't like his prices, move along. I think new car prices (and many used ones) are too expensive, but I don't cry about it. I shop for something I can afford and get on with my life.

It is a word, it is just non standard or incorrect since it is a double negative.

Actually, "Irregardless" IS a word. It's just a non-standard word that grammar natzi's hate. It has been in use for over 100 years:

Now that's how we take a thread off-topic

I have never bought anything from Steve, but I have been to his store and talked with him. The entire time I felt like I was talking to a used car salesman. My instincts kept telling me, "don't buy anything from this guy, you're going to regret it". Fast forward to the recent MOPLE pre-orders of a few weeks ago...not sure first hand of the entire story, but what I do know is as follows. He offered one of his regular customers $500 NOT to take his pre-order of MOPLE. That customer told him no thanks and paid/put his deposit down for it. A couple of days later, he called that customer (and one other that I know of) and told them he didn't get his allotment from Stern and that they wouldn't be getting their MOPLE they had ordered. Now I'm not a rocket scientist, but offering someone $500 not to take their pre-order and then calling them days later to tell them they won't be getting their MOPLE...seems a little fishy at the very least. Combine all that with my original instincts, it then reminds me of a line from Monty Python's The Holy Grail..."Run Away...Run Away...Run Away"!!!

My friend Kent purchased a TOTAN from "FUN" and he received the game with no problems. I would have never paid the price he paid but again Kent's in WVA and games are hard to find in WVA.

I purchased a machine from Fun and wouldn't do it again. When the machine arrived things were broken, bulbs not replaced, many mechanisms not working, plastics broken, as one other person stated, black pain sprayed on the play field glass. Looks like the machine was just flipped and no care or love was put into it before selling. I was also promised the plastics sent to me that were broken, never heard a word from Gideon or anyone from Fun about that. I replaced them myself. The machine is great now after I spent more money replacing everything. I would never deal with them, but you can make your own decision as other people here have stated. Good luck with the hunt of your pinball machine.

Yes I won't argue at all with this as you are GETTING WHAT YOUR PAYING FOR AND ARE IN CONDITION THEY ARE TELLING YOU THEY ARE IN..this is my only concern,Yes he can charge what he likes and it's my decision to purchase but what I'm wanting to find out is when listed as a high quality machine with no playfield wear is that what I'm going to get? Honestly I suppose is all I'm after.

If it's a high quality pin that you are paying to ship across the world, I suggest you ask for 100 high rez pics of every square inch of it.

That's what I'd do anyway.

Sorry - I've personally seen Steve/Funs work on the front end.
Glad he supports TPF; but the way he makes and breaks deals with his sellers while having them over a bent over a barrel makes me stay far away from him.
You make a deal - you stick to the deal.
Enough said - but I learn from other people.

Curious...

The locals know you are a huge Star Trek fan and you've already made it clear you are getting the new ST from Stern. The TPF always has the latest Stern and offers it to the local community at a huge discount. ST will likely be the latest and greatest come next years TPF, knowing that you would be getting it from Steve because he is TPF's distributor would you rather spend much more and get it somewhere else?

OP - I can not speak to the reputation of FUN as I've only heard stories about them but looking at the picks of the BOP it is far from "excellent" condition. it has pretty severe wear (to the wood) at both ball drops and the playfield has severe discoloring on the parts not under the mylar. These are not show stoppers to me but it does not equate to "excellent" condition nor nearly $4K. The cab is decent but is faded, as most BOP's are. You can tell the left side of the cab was in sun light. Also, it appears the left ramp (shuttle ramp) is cracked at the entrance. Again, normal for a BOP but still not excellent.

I paid $1800 for my BOP in October 2011 for a pin in almost identical shape. With pinflasion I could see it at $2.5K now but no where near $4K.

You should be able to find a BOP in much nicer shape than that if your budget is $4K.

Just trying to help but their description in the e-bay add doesn't add up to what I see in the few pics presented. It could play perfect but that wouldn't make it "excellent". This is a solid players pin.

Many thanks for feedback,as of your findings I too also had closer look and not very happy with those worn to wood areas etc especially as I asked clearly"are there any areas of wear to actual playfield surface please"
This has worried me now as I'm not in position to view machine and can't do much more than ask the questions and hope for honest answers.

Somewhere else. Deposit already in.
I'm not waiting to get ST at a TPF discount. Unsure if/when ST comes out; but I'm guessing it won't be on the exact timing of TPF.

Honestly; I specifically avoided FUN for the way *the representative of company* dealt with my friend.
Maybe it's all Gideon.... whatever, like it or not - this guy did not buy NIB from FUN because of the representation made by FUN's Tech.
