When you say the game resets, what do you mean? Starts a new game with player 1 and score of zero?

Are there any other switches closed when you shoot the skull lock and this happens?

Resets back to attract mode

Did you recently repair/replace any switch/diode/wire? Maybe a switch is miswired or diode on backwards.

No but I did just install xpin displays. I wouldn't think this would do anything bc they are plug n play

I would test every switch in the same row and column as the skull lock in the switch test to see if anything unusual happens.

What would cause the game to go back to attract mode, though? If it was starting a new game, I would think a short or diode problem was reading as the start button being pushed. But going into attract mode is different. Perhaps it thinks there was a drain and game is over.

OP, does this happen on the first ball in play, or does it only happen on the last ball in play? Do you get a game over sequence, or does it just go right into attract mode?

Try removing the batteries to reset the game. I know this sounds odd but I had a similar issue and it solved the problem. My tech was the one that mentioned it because he had a similar issue with an Elvira years before and that’s what Williams told him to do. It’s something with the memory. Good luck

I believe it is the switch 52 as it is not registering in switch test but I will pull the batteries

It does it as it rolls over the skull lock switch 29.which is in the same column as switch 52 in the switch matrix

My test report says check switch 52 safety lock and I did and it didnt register. So my guess is it's a bad switch and it is killing the row even though all the rest register.but the game resets only when I hit the one right after the skull entrance switch 29

All registered except switch 52 safety lock

Post a picture of that #52 switch so we can see if it is wired wrong.
