This guy was priceless. I arrived to repair a game at a laundromat for the owner. She called and said the game would not take any coins. When I walk in the door I find this guy with a coat hanger trying to pull stuck quarters out of the jammed chutes. I pretended to be just another customer and asked him if those were his quarters stuck in the coin chutes. He said (in broken English), "No, easy way to make money". I said what about the damage to the coin door plastic guides? He said, "I no care".

So I walked to the back of the room and informed the attendant who immediately headed up there and ran the guy off. He called her a bunch of profanity in Spanish as he left. I asked her if she had seen him before and to my surprise she said, yes. He was a customers husband, she said.

They gave me a screenshot of the guy from their surveillance system. I am only posting this because the owner always says their problems with vandalism and theft is always teenage punks.

They aren't always teenage punks.

Yeah...he looked REALLY hungry!

#7 9 years ago

I can't figure out HOW he could get any quarters out anyway. You couldn't snag a Quarter out of a coin box . . .

Ugh... But best post of the week! Thanks for sharing.~SpOoKy

Elvira and the Party Monsters. This poor machine used to be mine NIB. It's been well taken care of since 1989 when I first put it in this location. I sold it to them when I stopped routing a few years ago.

I can't tell you how much money this one game has made. I lost track. Best purchase I ever made.

Sounds like she's ready for retirement...I have a nice pin retirement home ready for her!

fishing quarters out of coin slots is easy money? Seems like a lot of effort for little reward.

#12 9 years ago

I know this guy isn't the smartest but if you're going to steal the $17.25 in that machine, you should learn to pick locks not fish for stuck coins.

Such an asshole , he is guest to your land and behaves like this .
Send him back home .

How'd you like to make $7 the hard way?

guessing you missed step one... it would have been him who jammed the slots up earlier. Then wait until slot full... and go fishing. The coins would have never made it to the box.

#19 9 years ago

Even better, be on the watch for him, open the door up just ahead of him and remove them the proper way and watch the look on his face. If he sez they are "his", give him a good swift kick in the ass.

#20 9 years ago

Instead of using his time to steal a few quarters, he could be using that time looking for a job.

#21 9 years ago

I'd give him an abortion with that coat hanger!!!

While he is down there just slam his face into the LDB.
Don't F him up too bad, we pay for his trip to the ER.

I sense a problem here. If the attendant isn't calling the police every time. Have them arrested or at least trespassed out. Then it's just a game there and the punks will continue.

Someone having to tell the attendant is the first problem, running them off isn't a deterrence.

That's my point! We have enough problems here already without letting those that don't belong flood across… In fact some of you bleeding heart liberals should learn Spanish and head south.

CLOSE THE BORDER! NOOOOOW!

#28 9 years ago

If the store does not report him or call the cops then he is correct. It is in fact a very easy way to make money. Unfortunately it makes you a POS thief. Get a rope.

Not sure how you came to that conclusion but then again its your way of thinking that is what's helping to ruin this country.

Is that Lou's Fluff n' Fold in Salinas? I love going there with the fiancée to 'do' the clothes.

She doesn't let me fold.

Hmmmm, I think removing the coin door ground wire is in order!

There are some very nice pinsiders that are active on the board from Canada. Why would you want to keep them out?

#35 9 years ago
Quoted from LTG:

Many people need monetary or other incentives. Put a couple free/service credits on the game for the attendant to play right after you work on it.

#36 9 years ago

If would be great to put a electrically charged bar just above the drop. I would put a warning sticker on machine (to deter in the first place) then enough juice to give someone a good jolt.

I guess strategically located razor blades or treble hooks could work too

Come on, buddy. There's no need to connect an anti illegal immigration stance to internment camps. Despite the inane rhetoric being spewed out these days, anti illegal immigration does not equate to racism and persecution. I am deeply saddened that half our country (and pretty much my entire home state) buys into such nonsense.

I will admit that my comment was made in anger, was a bit superfluous, and a bit out of hand. However it was a reaction to repeated comments of CLOSE ALL BORDERS!!! which I found distasteful. We know nothing of the man that has been caught robbing this pinball machine, for all we know he could be here legally. Close all borders in reaction to him being a different color than white in my eyes does have a tone of prejudice, that is to prejudge based on ones skin color, and automatically assumes that he is an illegal immigrant and a burden to this country without knowing the full story, so in my mind in this instance the statement was based on prejudice.

I agree that there need to be regulations in place to ensure that people living and working in America are doing so legally and paying their fair share of taxes and etc. I am not against regulations in any way whatsoever, and don't believe that putting such things in place equates to racism. Unfortunately, some people (not all) are not as level headed as you and think that simply closing the borders would solve all of our problems or they base their thinking on preconceived notions, fear and perhaps hatred passed down from others or learned over time.

This country was founded on immigration and giving people less fortunate in other parts of the world an opportunity for a fresh start. I am willing to bet that every last one of this in the thread descends from people that have immigrated to this great nation, and I think we should afford that opportunity to others as long as they do it legally and in a way that benefits us all. Does not it say on the statue of liberty:

“Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed, to me:
I lift my lamp beside the golden door.”

Anyway, I will get off my soapbox. I have met you personally Norcalrealtor and you are a great guy. I am sure if we sat down and really discussed the way the world is and how we feel about it there would be a lot of things we agree upon, and plenty that we disagree about, but that's ok. No one will ever agree with someone else on 100% of everything. Differences of opinion are great and lead to great thinking and new ways of doing things. Its only when the discussion becomes uncivil and blanket statements are issued that we lose sight of things.

So I apologize to Teekee for equating that he would be fine with interments camps, that was out of line.

#39 9 years ago

you would probably hit the game switch wire and wind up with alot of free games doing this.

and a whole lot of damage with the internals of the coin mech.

sad

Neither one of you Internet commandos live in a border state and yet you choose to spew this kind of garbage on a public forum. Take these opinions of yours over to a proper forum and be sure to "Log In with Facebook" so everyone knows who you really are.

This is a pinball forum.

Should have been closed when this comment was made:

Scumbags exist everywhere in this world, regardless of race or nationality.
Surprised the mods let this fly....

You may have missed my point. I was trying to illustrate that yes there are scumbags everywhere. Since we are talking about closing the borders to America my point was that there are plenty of scumbags living here legally that vandalize coin-op machines, and that "closing the borders" will not solve that or any problem, because like you said there are scumbags everywhere.

And if you want to get technical and point fingers, should have been closed long before my statement.

#44 9 years ago

Oh I got it, but what you missed was the irony of using racism to prove your point.

It was tongue in cheek.

I am done with this thread altogether. I forgot that the internet is no place for political discussion. Going to go talk about pinball.

take care everyone.

Erect a larger wall at the border. Place a man at the top of the wall, every hundred feet or so.

Anyone trying to climb wall, shoot.

No more border issue.
