Mine arrived yesterday .... I'm down the rabbit hole ... needs cabinet redo and complete tear down! if its comes apart it will go together looking towards the challenge of making it better than new !
Quoted from TheOnlyest:Do you guys not know the trick to slide a PF forward (to get at the back bits) by lifting the bracket slots off of the pivot bolts??
This allows you to access everything on system 11 games without completely removing the PF.
This ... and I use a covered 2X4 to support the back of the game to work on them while in cabinet!
Quoted from jhanley:Here you go
Thanks ...
Now to figure out where the rest of the back box wires go to remove the hack !
Quoted from DumbAss:I think that's the connector you need to replace.
Thanks ... will try to sort out this mess
Quoted from SilverUnicorn:Want to tackle mine but do t want to get in Over my head. LOL.
Take the plunge Chris you can do it...
Quoted from SilverUnicorn:Capcom's Airborne,
after Airbourne , this one will be easy !
Quoted from PinballGalore:More progress , now over to the upper PF
like the loo of the yellow rails !
Quoted from Scoot:It sure is going to be nice when completed
Won't see most of them ,with all the parts back in
Resolved my carriage bolt issues...
The cabinet and the headboard now mostly done! final sand this week and primer this weekend.
Quoted from pinballlarry1:Installed, tested ok and working. It does feel a tiny amount "shakier" than before:
Did you check the settings for the shaker in the menu?
Great job with the refurbish on the motor
Quoted from Scoot:I can't have mine at the arcade setting as it tends to rattle across the floor. I can wake the neighbors down the street.
cant have mine set to arcade ... the wife wouldn't stop leaning on it and the washer would get lonely !
Quoted from gutz:I'd be interested!
Will update this as soon as I have the quote for the one , see if I can get a discount on more ...
Mine was almost to a point shape...
Couldn't believe it worked as well as it did ...
Quoted from mbaumle:challenging is the process of replacing cabinet decals
Not that difficult... without Radcals you may want to spend more time smoothing out the cracks and holes in the cabinet, base coat of blue paint and install ... just a pain to remove the side rails, with mine I used velcro to reinstall just incase I ever have to remove them.
Paid $125.00 to have mine made here locally.
Further down the rabbit hole...
Guessing the previous owner didn't have much love for this game...
2 of 3 flipper bushings completely done.
Minor dirt on the bats
Topside tear down almost done..
The bottom side is next to be removed.
Quoted from dmacy:Make sure to check inside the flipper bats too. Usually when they’re that nasty they’re cracked inside.
They are good ... Thanks first thing I check after removal ...
Actuator... update!
Ordered 10 this morning to cover everyone's needs for this part!
The order should be ready on the 18th of October perhaps sooner .
Once completed will check to ensure it's Identical to the original part.
After that will pm all parties interested and wrap up this side project ....
Regards
Rob
Quoted from DuffysArcade:Looking forward to tearing my ES apart again
No you don't....
Mines been so dam stubborn....
The decals I was referring to was a set for the ramps above and below...
Thanks for the cabinet decals info ... had mine made local ....
Actuator update...
Got some last minute requests and managed to add them to order.
These should be ready for Tuesday pick up.
I will be leaving for a quick trip to Toronto Wednesday morning returning Saturday, so should they not be complete by Tuesday this will be on hold till my return .
As discussed will reach out to you all via PM when tested and completed.
Regards
Rob
Quoted from Photopin:replacement wireforms for Earthshaker?
There were some used ones at pinball spare parts Australia, a short while back
Back from my trip... manufacturers called order ready , will pick them up tomorrow...
Unobtainium no more !
Actuator update...
Picked them up yesterday!
The sizing is an exact match , the height of the shaft is a little smaller by 1/16 but had it in my machine and added a washer.
The company is willing to redo them all or I can ship them out as is and washer can be added.
Please PM me and see what's best for everyone...
Rob
When installed in my game it completely removes the sloppiness that I had when the fault would open and close

My apologies for the delay but with -21 weather and me being responsible for 70 trucks and drivers serving 125 companies I haven't had time for a personal life ...
Trying to get back on track with what little time I get to spend on the restore.
Playfield has been stripped top and bottom and after sanding heading out for reprint.
Meanwhile going slowly move through the bags of mechs for a good deep clean and inspection.
Apron powder coated and redecaled
Quoted from rmillman:Are you asking about the machine topper or the signs over the ramps?
The machine topper ...
Looking for a couple of clear pictures of the back of the topper .
Quoted from rmillman:Does anyone know if the Stern protector, (what Pinball life has) is the same size as the one for ES?
I ordered that piece and it looks like it will match ...
Quoted from Eric_Manuel:Another Tech Note for Rottendog MPU9211 Boards
Thanks ... great info .
Would you mind sharing some pictures?
I took lots while taking apart my machine, but could always use more.
Mine still undergoing restore.
Looking for a clear picture of the plug connector for the backboard lights.
And where it plugs into.
Sadly when I got the game these were directly soldered to the interconnect board.
Board was sent for repairs and is repaired better than new.
Quoted from DumbAss:As an alternative, you could post what you have and someone could figure out what goes where.
Looks like I have one of 2 ..

The wire colors and order is shown in the red box. Ignore the information in the gray box. This information is incorrect. The BRN/GRN/WHT-BRN/WHT-GRN wires are GI and the RED wire is +25V solenoid / flasher power. This is used by the 24V relay in the backbox to switch the GI strings.
So the picture whwere the wires are attached and I should plug them in as the numbers are in the edited picture ?

thanks for your help .....
greatly appreciated !
Quoted from Eric_Manuel:If you don't have the Earthshaker Manual
You can find it online here
https://www.ipdb.org/machine.cgi?id=753
thanks I do have one ... honestly I suck at reading schematics and according to Dumbass its incorrect !
Quoted from Eric_Manuel:Here is a very cool image I found, someone had posted. Very useful!
guessing done for Taxi , with the Santa Prize Lamp ?
Quoted from Eric_Manuel:those bulbs will be just fine
In all my games I generally use 2 smd warm white frosted lights ... Thanks for the reminder of the blinkers...
Quoted from Eric_Manuel:Excellent quality cards for machine from good Ebay Seller
johng5945
look great ... just not not available ?
Quoted from nerdygrrl:I'm still plugging away on this PF swap for my friend. Unfortunately for me he did the breakdown and his pics were not the greatest. I was lucky enough to find other pics, and have almost have the topside posts all sorted, but I cannot figure what goes here. Any ideas?
looks like your a little bit off on the metal post ?
Screenshot 2023-03-03 073122 (resized).pngQuoted from PinBackpacker:Anyone have a NOS Earthshaker playfield for sale?
if you cant a NOS one , CPR just made a bunch more !
Quoted from SilverUnicorn:Something else to fix tonight
I also put a little super lube where the plastics are joined ... mine was binding a bit when opening and closing.
Quoted from Jrotten:Try Mark at basementarcade.com. Don’t know if he still makes them. DIY? Doubt it.
Mark still sells them, bought one a few months back..
Im in the start of my restore
Quoted from WalrusPin:It says sold out,
Same with me ... He replied and built me one , hoping he does the same for you!
Thanks for the well wishes
Quoted from 8bitrobo:Ok movers and shakers my Golden Gate mod if finally finished.
looks great !
Think the Basement Arcade still makes them ... email him .
He made one for me not long ago .
Quoted from Triplecdad:Does anyone still sell the sinking building mod
Quoted from WalrusPin:email and multiple times by phone, and never received a response. I'm not sure if he has stepped away at this point (been almost 2 months without any returned contact).
Guessing I got lucky !
Thanks for sharing
Quoted from 8bitrobo:A big thanks to those who have ordered one.
Got mine weeks ago ...
But with major restoration will be a while till unboxing ...
Great service ....
Shipping went quick
Doing a restore on an Earthshaker pinball machine.
Replaced the old style sockets with new.
Trying to figure out the manufacturers logic as to why are their 2 wires for GI lighting?
Have 2 yellow and 2 yellow-white as well as 2 violet and 2 violent-whites powering them currently ?
Quoted from WeirPinball:Think I got most of the first level figured out
Further ahead than me ... still doing my GI String
IMG_20230410_100228.jpgIMG_20230410_100232.jpgIMG_20230410_100237.jpgQuoted from Eric_Manuel:missing your "In-Line"
Not there yet .. have the GI wire harness and switch harness installed the high output harness still hanging on the door.
Quoted from Eric_Manuel:I meant to also suggest it's very cool to light up the red ball kickout (or whatever it's called) with an additional led tapped into the GI lighting.
Additional lighting in the back corners of the playfield
In progress... on the list ...
Not fond of lighting shooter lanes and troughs
Quoted from WeirPinball:Here is where I'm at on the back, getting ready to start putting the harness on.
feel your pain brother
good luck !
Quoted from WeirPinball:Anyone know where the chained flasher should go? It connects to the arrow flasher above my finger
Do believe it goes under the angry sun ...
20230606_114425 (resized).jpgQuoted from Photopin:Is there anyplace that sells replacement boards for Earthshaker?
try DumbAss makes great updated boards ! great service and ships fast !
Quoted from Jmckune:They are controlled lamps.
Quoted from DumbAss:The wire is NOT WHT-BLU. It is YEL-BLU.
thanks guys super helpful , greatly appreciated !
Too funny Chris...
I think I take prize for being Gullible..
Look on a map I'm so landlocked here in the great white north.
Great mod though.
Been a while but back at it:
All new GI wire and new sockets
Popbumpers rewired
Controlled pop lights reconfigured
Pop lights reconfigured
GI wire bundle separated
Switch wire bundle seperated
Next is the third wire harness
Then to the topside
Quoted from High_End_Pins:Looks good I think the red wire goes to the banded side of the diode on the jet bumper lights.
Oh no ... I need to confirm this ..
Followed what was there before so hoping I'm right ?
Your comment makes me proud.
Firstly, thanks for the help with the diode bands , stupid me the banding was wrong ..
Still not clear , according to the picture the original set up for Yellow-Blue wire has no diode?
According to DumbAss I need a non-banded diode?
Thanks in advance for all the help!
Quoted from pencilneck:Photo would of been taken right after ramp was removed.... so maybe for ramp?
Thanks for the quick reply...
Checking the ramp don't think this is the answer?
Quoted from pencilneck:Took a closer look at mine... and that spot isn't used. Couldn't see it until I shoved my phone into there.
thanks .... seeing that a post would would interfere !
appreciate the effort , back to restore !
Started restore April 2022..
Playfield back in cabinet , nothing blew up on power up...
Couple of adjustments to go..
Quoted from Jmckune:Not likely. Your old one should have had two as well. One for high power and one for hold. Your most likely problem is the EOS setup. The switch is in your picture. Did you clean the contacts prior to installing? If not, you need to. Did you check to ensure the switch opens only at the very end of the flipper stroke and not early? If you didn’t, it’s likely not aligned properly and opening early which switches the coil to hold (low) power.
So will follow up with this suggestion, literally dropped the playfield back in and connected the wiring , did a really quick check ...
The flipper assembies are completely brand new... will tweak them and follow up .
Thanks
Rob
Little assistance if possible..
Could someone take a picture of the lower left and right flipper assemblies.
Need to see the wiring to the flipper coil lugs on both sides .
Thanks in advance
Quoted from WeirPinball:here ya go
Great thanks , put all new assemblies in the game ... the upper left flippers function as should ! Both the lower flippers are soft and spongy ..
Will try to get back to this this week !
Thanks again .
Rob
just a quick update regarding my spongy flipper issues after restore. Had bought new flipper assemblies when doing the restore, there was a space so small that the flipper EOS switch looked like it was closed but wasn't, the wire gauge from the EOS to the coil was also not making a great connection!
posting encase someone else will have the issue !
Just finished my restore...
New(ish) redone playfield..
Cabinet repaired and done in black
All GI wire removed ,wire replaced.
All harness, switch, and Gi lights gone thru and fixed were required.
All mechs redone .
And so much more...
Started April 2022 finished Sept2023
Mind you done in spare time!
Will never see the $ for hours .. but it's done

all topside hardware changed to black oxide

pics not in order , sorry !
Quoted from SilverUnicorn:Is that all the pics you have?
Hey Chris... hope all is well with you?
Actually have a ton more if you need them?
Big effort but I now have a brand new 1989 Earthshaker...
Fast as all hell shooter now !
Quoted from WeirPinball:I've got some loose wires in the cab
Looks like the go to the big connector in the bottom left of the cab..
Connector to the coin door
Quoted from pinwiz_pa:The brown/gray wire goes through the hole in the playfield to the topside flasher on mine
will check that , but if so that sucks to be me ! the whole corner of the games has to be taken apart to get that from the top !
thanks for the info , greatly appreciated!
Quoted from pinwiz_pa:The brown/gray wire goes through the hole in the playfield to the topside flasher on mine
Nope looks like orange and black !
DSCN3022 (resized).JPGQuoted from pinwiz_pa:The brown/gray wire goes through the hole in the playfield to the topside flasher on mine
Quoted from Jmckune:[quoted image]
Indeed correct.. it's the flasher in the far left corner... thanks all .
Now how to get at it for repair ...
Thanks all
Rob
Quoted from WeirPinball:same here no hole in the old pf
Now that's odd ...
Mine had the hole for the post???
Was a wood screw hole.
I had my playfield (original) stripped and rescreened.
Hole was in mine from the factory
Quoted from WeirPinball:Anyone else have problems with the new ramp thickness?
my right ramp to the VUK was a very tight fit ...
Quoted from Jmckune:Mine fit fine except for the screws on the backside of the side ramp,
managed to get one of the 2 screws in the back corner ... hard fit front to back and back to front , aligned mine off the support screws and the ramp !
Quoted from Jmckune:Don’t screw Nevada in too tight or you’ll impede californias ability to move
Yes ... this ... !
Trying to sort out the last issue with my restore.
ZONE 6
1) In switch test manually moving the gate triggers switch
2) in switch test manually sending a ball through the gate triggers the switch
3) all balls in start game lock first ball for multiball
ZONE 6 will not register when trying to get to second ball lock
Any assistance would be appreciated.
Quoted from mbaumle:have you checked all the switch diodes?
Only one diode on the switch , replaced with new diode...
Same issue , not giving #6
Quoted from mozach:With glass off, can you get it to register by hand during gameplay?
No ... .
So looks like a suspect wire may be the issue!
Funny how these things can make you crazy .
What is the , going to call it a yolk board behind the switch is there a proper name for it
Between the bracket and the switch ?
Will check suspect wire later,
Thanks to all for the guidance, so far!
3 ball multi ball
One in the subway VUK
One in upper VUK
Launch ball all 3 released after first switch hit.
There is the quick Multi ball from Zone 5 as well.
Quoted from Elysiom:It’s certainly not doing that
The first ball lock (on mine) lite required shots for institute, the right ramp lights for lock!
Shoot ball to upper right VUK, fault opens directing ball to the subway and holds in lower VUK.
Is your Fault working as should?
Quoted from TheCapn:Putting this here for anyone that may need it.
Made that look easy!
Quoted from 8bitrobo:My current Earthshaker project, but it still has a really long way to go.
Did you get the game like this?
Or are you thinking of trying to sink the skyscrapers?
