Hey all,
I'm new to Pinball playing and with the help of FLASHBALL just purchased my first machine. Of course it was a Earthshaker. Just wanted to post a intro thread so I can keep up with this thread!

I got my Earthshaker 2 weeks ago and started having a bunch of issues. One of my buddies has held me every step of the way, but one thing that went out that we don't have much we can do about is the display. I'm going to order a new display once I can save a little money, but I was wondering if anyone had one for parts that they would move cheep. Steven told me to post that the top row had started to gas out, and that we could possibly swap a glass out if we can get our hands on one. Thanks! I also added a pic, this was a route machine that they literally just electric tape the display in there!
Hey again guys. I've been shopping my machine pretty much since I got it last month. When it was sold to me I was told it just needed new spoons on the pop bumpers... I wish they were true. I'm about $300 into repairs more winging it myself following repair guides and ordering parts. I've got 2 issues I'm hoping the community will be able to link me to fixes for.
The first is my drop targets do not reset until my next ball after I drain. The second is my fault doesn't always open. It does every time when the ball lock is lit up, but when I make it to it before it's ready for ball lock it will just roll down it while closed and generally end up in my ramp that goes to zone 8. As always, I greatly appreciate your help!
Once I get these fixed and order a new display I'll have myself a nice machine! Glad it was my first for sure
Drop targets continued... Lol
So after cleaning them the first thing that pops up when I turn on the test is to check switches 27, 28, and 29. Then when I do the switch edge test they do not pop up on the screen at all when I tap them down. What is your guys' best educated guess I'm what my next step is going to be?
Thanks again, you guys are AWESOME!
Quoted from TheOnlyest:Check the connectors, you either have a wire broken off the connector, or possibly a bad solder joint at one of the header pins, take the board out and reflow the solder on all the pins.
Thanks man, you've been awesome

Can someone post a picture of your drop targets under the playfield, specifically the wiring? I am not convinced when the person before me owned it that they even cared about soldering the wires back in the right place. The assembly was missing parts and the spring, so I just want to make sure I'm soldering it back together correctly. As of right now I don't think the board is getting any power at all. We took it apart and tried seeing if it was on with our cell phone camera and it's not putting out any RF light
Alright, I'm finally getting all the parts in and trying to narrow down what my problem may be. My friend recommended I bring my Aux Board over Thursday and we'll resolder it. The first thing I did was send the Power and MPU boards out to have them redone.
My first question, would that top section of lights that's not lit, which on the photo from the back angle is both of the top 2 rows of wires, and the drop Target board have anything to do with one another? Both seem to have absolutely no power. The coil to reset (between balls and during testing) works, but the board doesn't light up at all. We took it apart and cleaned it this weekend and it did nothing. Still says those switches need checked as soon as I start my Test Report. We also could see no RF light through our phone cameras.
Second, my brand new LED display acts up while playing as shown in the picture with the line missing in ball. I replaced my old display because it started out with the top left digit missing and then totally went out. Occasionally it would come back on and work for a while or an entire night but then go out again. My and friend thinks there's either a problem on the Aux board or somewhere else within the machine causing a problem with the board.
I tried to give as much information as I could think to give. Any help or advice on where to go next with these issues will be greatly appreciated, as always.

Well, on the light portion of the issue I'm advised that board needs to go out and 2 of the connectors are totally fried. So now just need to figure out the display issue if it's separate and Eugene said no power to the Drop Targets is most definitely a separate issue
Quoted from awarner:Replace the pins on the board with new. Use Trifurcon pins on new connectors and your problem is solved forever. I replaced the connector pins on my Doctor Who back in the 90's with regular pins and never did the board and 2 years ago I had to do it right.
I'm sending my boards out to have them redone, I'll just have to replace the connectors. Can you link or PM me a good place to get those?
Any ideas on the Drop Target power issue?
Can someone please post a picture of their Flippers both fully fired? I just did a rebuild on my left flipper because it was giving me issues, and now it doesn't appear to go nearly far enough up. It makes no sense because the plunger is hitting the stop as it should and everything is very smooth. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for that, can you please post a top view, as far as how far your flippers fire up? Maybe they were just firing way too far up previously.
Quoted from Chosen_S:These were just freshly rebuilt
I'm totally dumbfounded... Neither of mine fire that far.
Quoted from Chosen_S:Post pics of them down, and of the under side, up and down
I also put in the old coil stopper, which I noticed is shorter, but then it just doesn't hit it, instead the link holding the plunger hit to stop the momentum and the flippers still didn't go any higher than what they did in the pictures above. Is there any possibility Marcos sent the wrong parts? I didn't think so because they fit perfectly and are identical to your posted pictures, but the link holding the plunger and the stopper are different than the old ones that were installed on my machine.
Quoted from Chosen_S:I don't like the system 11 kits, I get the wpc ones for all my system 11 games, they've always worked great and the Spring action is nicer imo
Yeah, they were the wrong parts. They pulled the manual for part numbers and pulled their stock and it was incorrect. She resent the correct parts tough so hopefully by the end of the week I'll be up and going again
I'm am glad after the almost 2 months I've had to FINALLY be able to post a positive post. I bought Earthshaker in early February and knew it was going to be a project. My initial investment was $700. It had a bunch of board issues and I'm assuming all original parts from when it was made by the shape of them. I started out by sending the boards out to be rebuilt. That fixed all of my lighting issues (half of the backglass, some of the playfield, and half of the jackpot values didn't light up). After that I had to do a flipper rebuild as my left flipper was very weak and also a Pop Bumper Rebuild (my lord is that a task lol). While doing that I also ordered LEDs for playfield and pop bumpers, the LED display, a rubber kit, and a replacement post for between the flippers. I'm glad to report that after all of that the machine is flying! I'll say it was a much easier game with rubbers from 1989 and slower flippers! Haha
