10 days, 110 hours, 32beers, three bloody fingers and one beautiful looking Earthshaker.

I would've just rounded it to 36 beers. Nicely done!

Ordered some new ramps with the playfield so looking forward to sprucing things up once I'm finished with a couple other projects.

Where did you order the ramps from?

Type "earthshaker" in the search box.

Mine arrived today and look great.

Scoot,

I have always been underwhelmed with the plastics palm trees. So when I got new plastics, I decided to upgrade them a little.

Did you stick the trees where the screw hole was or attach them some other way?

I cut the tree stem to desired height and then drilled a screw size hole in the bottom. Then I just removed a lock nut and screwed the tree on in its place. It was easy and surprisingly secure. I had to swap out the tree stems for the smaller palm trees, since the stems were a little too small to drill a hole. Just pop off the top, swap stem and all set. I put two small ones in the front and one large in the back.

Can anyone help me with a wiring problem I'm having with my Earthshaker? My upper left flipper coil has a black wire coming off the right connector and a blk/blu wire coming off the left connector. I found the black wire hanging under the playfield. I've traced the blk/blu back to 2J8-12 but I don't know what the black connects to. Anyone know where that black wire from the upper left flipper coil goes?

I didn’t like how the start button doesn’t illuminate on my Earthshaker so I decided to do something about it. I purchased a few illuminated start buttons and ultimately decided on the larger Data East start button for this project. This was because the other smaller ones would require me to counter sink the start button into the cabinet. This would look great and be inline with all my other pins, but without having the proper tools I was afraid to mess up and ruin the cabinet.

All I had to do was widen the hole inside to the existing outer hole dimension. Then the button would just slide into place. As for wiring, I simply unsoldered the three wires with diode and solder them to the new switch.

The lighting was just as simple. I tapped into the coin door lights and put in a blinking bulb. Now I have a lighted start button that is much better than the old, white button that used to be there.

Good Luck! Please keep updating us on the status and the work you are doing. My Earthshaker is in "good" shape but always looking to learn something new or see how someone else does some work.

Thanks all - will keep posting how it is going etc.

Looking for a shaker and shaker board for my RS if anyone is parting out their ES.

#769 4 years ago

Can someone take a picture of their connector on the relay board mounted on the backside of the head “light board”... I can’t find anywhere in the manual the pin out for the 7 pin connector. My light ms are not working correctly and someone has replaced the connector with a 5 position without a key I suspect it wired wrong as well...

Any help would be appreciated

Don

Was playing a game after repairing the connector above when this happened; I let the ball bounce from the right flipper to the left. It slowly aches over and settle here! Really it just sat there even through the ball search as I frantically fumbled for my camera...

I love pinball

I am sorry but in the video you fu*** up the print on the inserts completely while removing the mylar !
So this is a guide how to destroy the playfield and not a "how to".
I removed the mylar with ice spray and than SOLVENT 50 for the glue. So *NO* insert was damaged.

Pics:

The playfield is still for sale, but this is an other story

Quick question, is there supposed to be a cushion in the back of the Shelter/extra ball/lock scoop? I am getting a decent number of rejections from that's scoop when I hit it square, it's just bouncing hard off the back of the scoop.

Mine does not have a cushion in that spot and I don't have ball rejection problem.

Yes thank you, looks like I had it upside down hehe. I'll swap mine to match yours.

Can someone post a photo of the sinking building please, was this a factory installed part or an after market add on mod?
I am getting an ES at the end of this month so i'm not sure if it already has this installed.

It was included in prototype games, but removed from the production games due to cost. So most ES’s will not have this feature. There are aftermarket kits available that some have installed. I have one ready to go in when i restore my game.

Quoted from RonSwanson:

Problem solved. I removed the scoop and it looks like a prior owner put several pieces of adhesive backed foam in there including a piece of adhesive rubber over the angled upper portion. I am thinking the rebound of the rubber as well as the added thickness to where the ball was striking caused a higher percentage of straight back rebounds rather than deflecting the ball into the hole as intended. I removed all the rubber strips, cleaned the scoop and reinstalled, no more rejects!

So, I found out that apparently the shaker motor board in Earthshaker is different than the one in Road Show/Harley Davidson. Electrically very similar but the pinouts and heatsink are different. I'm making ones for RS now and am considering doing one for ES too. You guys think there's a need for replacements for ES as well?

Ah i should of taken measurements before removing these hehe. Which is the taller metal round post? The one that holds up the spiral ramp? or the one that holds up the middle ramp / quake.

Also the post above the drop targets is this a single or a double? as i have it as a single but noticed on others its a double.

Thanks

Perfect, I thought the larger was the spiral from my photos but was not quite sure. Ok cool looks like it is just a single post next to the spinner
How did you do your warning text btw? is that some sort of decal?

I’ve got something special coming later this month... well, if my credit doesn’t fall apart first!! Unfortunately due to time and limited skills, this is a commissioned job. Everything minus the cabinet will be as good or better than new!!

Finished... Picking it up next week...a Bryan Kelly restore with a new CPR gold playfield, new plastics, new ramps, and tons of other new stuff... any hardware kept spent lots of time in the ultrasonic cleaner or vibratory tumbler. The cabinet was only cleaned up and not fully restored because Bryan lost access to his wood shop and doesn’t have the space anymore. But existing cabinet was fairly nice and I can always do it down the road if desired.
