Just got Earthshaker it's saying in diagnostics that Lower ball pop needs attention and in switch test mode it is continually. I've tested the wires going from PF to backbox they aren't shorted together and they are each showing continuity to from switch to pin individually. I can't even when blades are together to get the Green black wire or and the white grey to show they are connected (to short). I also have entered switch test phase on MPU menu with the pin connection removed from enter connect board and it does not show it as active. My first glase showed me I'm missing the diode so I installed one but it didn't help. I'm trying to make sure I install this missing diode (1N4004) correctly on the Lower ball pop. Does the diode's stripe go to the green/black wire attached at the rear of the switch?

I have the stripe to the green cable not the white.

UPDATE: Looking a photos posted below it looks like mine only has 2 points on soldiering contact pads where as the Williams replacement part A-11658 shows three. This as was confirmed that indeed the top pop has three points of contact yet my lower pop only has two. (see posts #4-6)

I'm farily new to working on Pinball so sorry if this is a basic question

Look at other similar switches in your game. The white wire, and the green wire. Ignore the stripes. Diode faces the same direction on every switch. Wired the same.

Should be like this. Green wire goes to where green stripe is. White wire goes to black end of the diode. Silver band end of diode goes to grey stripe.

Quoted from LTG:

That photo helped and I took another look... my bottom pop only has 2 soldiering lugs but the top has 3 like in you photo so perhaps one broke off? I've been trouble shooting this for a while.

I installed the diode but directly between the green and white... not realizing perhaps there needs to be an additional attachment for the diode like in you photo. Let me post a few photos from my phone.

Photos of my top pop the one that works. I’ll attach the lower pop in next post.

Ok now for the one causing the error: the lower pop. It looks like it’s missing the blade solider point for the diode: is it?

I only see one attachment point in the rear of switch.
