I've been going through some stacks of early Bally sound boards and have found some conflicting information out there on Pin Wiki and with some people selling the boards. I've gathered my information from the manuals, which I know can have errors, but if anyone can confirm any of this, it would be appreciated. The two boards are VERY similar. The 3 items in question:

1. I've seen people selling the -32 sound board for KISS and Star Trek. The manuals state those are both -50s, with the KISS board being slightly modified: “Remove R28, C22 for AS-2888-4”. and I think KISS is the only game using this modified assembly.

2. PinWiki says those games (KISS and ST) use a -50 sound board with a 729-18 (-32 sound board) sound ROM. None of the -50 sounds boards I have have anything but socketted -50 ROM on them.

So this is what I think:

-32 Sound board, module 2888-1: Playboy, Lost World, 6MDM, Supersonic, Star Trek (Wiki says -50)

-50 Sound board, module 2888-3: KISS

-50 Sound board, module 2888-4: Paragon, Harlem Globe, Dolly Parton.

Any experts out there?

Thanks for the link, good info there. BUT that's the problem. Sites say one thing, manuals say the other. Maybe it's possible, since both cards are so similar, that a -32 will work in KISS. What I'm saying is the manual says it's a -50 and modified. Hopefully some KISS owners can verify what's in their games? If it's original or not would be a question though.

So why does the KISS manual state is uses 2888-4 AND in the KISS manual page 29 says at the bottom “Remove R28, C22 for AS-2888-4”??

Just trying to learn here, not being defensive.

How did you confirm it uses a 729-18? Here's why I ask, I have a small stack of -50 boards here, all have a socketted PROM that's a -51, and they are all either AS2888-3 or -4 assemblies, and KISS is the only board I can find where the manual calls for a 2888-3
