    Quoted from ForceFlow:

The upside of streaming is convenience, however, the downside of streaming is that titles can come and go, and a particular movie you might want to watch might not be available. So, the upside of a collection is that you can play them anytime you like. The downside is, of course, they take up space.
I have a handful of movies that have not been made available on streaming services, as far as I'm aware.

Yup, good points. Plus you actually don't own the film streaming it, there are typically no extras, the video quality is lower and the same uncompressed audio tracks found on Blu Ray's are not present. Also, you never have to rely on an internet connection with a Blu-ray and worry about your internet being out or the movie buffering.

If you invested in a nice video and audio upset it's well worth it to watch the Blu-ray. I still like buying movies but I'm now more selective with what I buy and wait for sales (or buy used).

    Quoted from Pinballlew:

In my area, every time I redbox a blue ray they only have the movie on them...no extras.

Yup, I've noticed that as well. Turns out that a lot of movies being rented are "rental editions" that lack any extras and some even lack the Dolby DTS-HD / Atmos soundtrack.

I still rent a good number of movies as I'll never rewatch a majority of them. For movies I really like though I enjoy having a physical copy that offers the best quality.

Anyone else into Criterion DVD's and Blu-rays? Here's what they are for anyone that may not be aware.

"The Criterion Collection is dedicated to gathering the greatest films from around the world and publishing them in editions of the highest technical quality, with supplemental features that enhance the appreciation of the art of film"

An uncle of mine got me into film as a kid and sadly passed away a couple years ago unexpectedly. His wife and daughter left me his nearly 200 Criterion film collection. Many of the film's are foreign films but wow are a lot of them really good. Criterion does a great job with the packaging as well and even includes a pretty thick booklet that goes into detail about the film and it's director. I've now started to pickup some Criterion Blu-rays.
