What is "Ghosting"? Every time I read a thread about LED's ghosting is brought up. What does it mean?? Thanks

The LED is faintly lit when it's not supposed to be on at all. Some games its very lit like 50-75% of full power, when it's supposed to be off.

Understand that some games had a little power always flowing to the old incandescent bulbs - a "pre-heat" if you will.

LEDs require so little power that the tiny amount of pre-heat power is enough to make them glow.

Oh, that explains it. I have a couple doing that in one of my pins too. I was wondering why

Replace them with Ghost Busters from Pinball Life, and the problem will go away.

what does it mean if that is happening to some lights on my Comet all incandescent bulbs? not all the time but when i hit the right flipper button the extra ball lights in front of the ramp light very dim. Is that considering ghosting as well? or is it another problem? how would i try to solve that problem?

OH, ya they all do it on my WW. I thought ghosting was they flashed when they weren't suppose to or similar to lcd ghosting.

    Just faint though, barely noticeable.

Cointaker is also supposed to be releasing some ghost buster LEDs but seems like it may take a while. About a week ago they said they were about 10 days from release but Im not sure they will be out that soon.

Ghosting does not really bother me, but it seems all of my sterns do it.

I dont think of it as a problem, barely notice it at all.

Yea while it doesn't bother me too much either I would prefer to have LEDs that don't ghost. But if it is LEDs with some ghosting or regular bulbs I happily go the LED route.

There's a ROM patch that fixes ghosting on WPC pins.

Yeah, I'm with you. I hear a lot of folks complaining about it, but it doesn't bother me either. Maybe my eyes just aren't sensitive enough to it. My STTNG does it a tad, but I rarely notice it while I'm playing. None of my other machines seem to do it at all.

Doesn't always work. My Corvette has the patch applied and it still has more inserts ghosting than an episode of Scooby Doo.

Are you sure it's ghosting? I had what I thought was a bad ghosting problem on my STTNG. After installing the non-ghosting patch, the problem was still there. This lead me to believe that the problem was not actually ghosting, but a lamp matrix issue. I decided to do a little experiment and replaced some of the offending LEDs with incandescent bulbs. Sure enough, they were slightly glowing as well.
