Quoted from mwrussel:I have a dr who I purchased over a decade ago for about $800. It was playable, but really beat up. Over the years as things break, I have replaced boards, been able to track down a few broken wires, replaced all incandescent bulbs with LEDS, even put on a wobble head on top. The translite when purchased was a paper photo copy and I found the original artwork with the help of a lot you and ended up having a pretty decent looking pin. However, over the last several months, there have been multiple issues cropping up that I'm attempting to repair...when one is fixed, it seems another pops up...can't tell if they are related or not....so, something I've been afraid to do, is try to restore it myself.
So, first question....do you need to be an electronics expert/craftsman/all-around expert to reasonably try this? I think I'm fairly trainable via guidance from experts and youtube videos...but would love to hear from others that have started a restoration without maybe knowing the extent of what they were doing when they started. Thanks.
