I am trying to repair a non-registering drop target - the 2nd target will occasionally register but not usually. I've cleaned the contacts, they don't appear to be worn, and I've tried adjusting the switch - still have the problem.

I took the assembly out and I noticed that on the back of the 2nd target, the wire is not connected to the assembly like in the other three. (See yellow circle in picture.) I am not sure what that wire does - maybe provide power? - but would I be correct in thinking that soldering it back onto that groove might fix the issue?

    Thank you in advance.

Absolutely correct. That wire is the common return for all four switches.
