I'm not familiar with the term drop hole, which feature is it?
There are two switches in the subway. If the game isn't detecting the ball in the subway it probably won't kick out until a ball search. Those switches are 16 & 17 in column one of the switch matrix.
Test switch 34, the right popper. Is it working? Look at page 2-41 in your manual and determine what other switches you're talking about and check those too.

Switch 34 is an opto. The above link may help you troubleshoot that type of switch problem.
