Quoted from Yelobird:Yes, done it many times. Note that if dimpled over to much it can be a Bear to remove from the disk if its a new style magnet as Stern uses today. I simply hold it in a vise and slowly work it flush again with a single cut file. Not really tough. Good Luck.
Hmm.
Do I understand this correctly:
A badly mushroomed magnet core can't be "backed out" through the assembly, necessitating the removal of the whole assembly and then the dressing of the core whilst still *in* the assembly on the bench?
My hope is to remove the 3/4" nut that holds the core in the assembly, then back out the core plug and place it in a vice for dressing. Is that a fair expectation?
Thank you, V and YB, for your help on this topic.
