My Dredd has recently started exhibiting some strange symptoms. Most frustrating is that the game will occasionally make loud, static-y sounds, and sometimes the music cuts out. Additionally, I think the display has flaked out a few times as well.

I've replaced the ribbon cable that goes from the MPU to the flipper, sound, & display driver boards with no luck.

Maybe worth noting, the windows sound ROMs were uncovered (though I've since covered them.)

Anyhow, where should I start troubleshooting? Replacing the game ROM? Swapping in an MPU from Corvette or Shadow? Something else?

**SOLUTION**
I ended checking voltage, and the 5v was very low (like 4.6v.) I'd had a Kahr daughterboard in there, and the game wouldn't even boot without it. I had bad solder joints on BR5 & C2 (both had been replaced by a previous owner, but traces weren't in great shape.) I also had to replace connectors at J101-J103

Just a guess to get you started: Check your sound board and maybe reseat the roms.....

Hi there, did you check the different voltages and the connectors ? Since the faults occur occasionally, it's more likely the power supply and/or bad connectors.

Just checking in to let anyone who may refer to this thread in the future what was wrong.
