Hey guys I have joined the club!

I bought my Dredd last year and have spent the last 8 months sprucing it up.

So i've been having a problem with my Dredd, well two!

By the way, I have Deadworld Mod with L1AT ROM from Pinbits and the new ball trough opto boards from Great Lakes Modular. This is important for later.

When putting all 3 balls into deadwood, the crane will pick up each of the balls slightly differently!

One ball will pick up perfectly and drop down the left ramp opto, the second one will pick it up off to one side and drag it on the ring and just barely make it to the left ramp opto drop, and the third ball will not make it at all to the left ramp opto and drop off the ring. If one or more balls do not drop down the left ramp opto I get ball errors either by early draining or two balls coming out of the trough when only one should!

The dead world ring seems to have a trail on it, like the balls have been dragged against it! I've tried using the planet and crane tests to adjust them but it doesn't seem to be working. What should I do?

My second problem, while bending the left ramp opto i accidentally broke it! Now it jut kinda hangs there. The rest of the ramp works fine though (this is the same ramp that the black out ramp attaches to). Has anyone used super glue on plastic ramps, do they work?

I can put together a video tomorrow if that helps!

Any help is much appreciated!

Does anyone know if you can add attract sounds using the pinsound board? I just got my pinsound board and would like to try this!

Quoted from Cheese_WizardPQ:

Just finished adding towers. Inside lights are subtle but the overall effect is great.

Great mod and sweet Dredd! I just got the cooling towers (3 from TSPP) and the decals from Soapman! My question is, how did you take off the original cooling tower plastics? They seem to be riveted on and I don't know how to take them off without potentially damaging the plastic?

Anyone?

#2054 7 years ago
Quoted from Mancave:

There's probably a few methods but i used a drill with a bit that's slightly larger than what the shaft of the rivet is, so about 3-4 mm. You may need a bit somewhat larger but start smaller. Basically you are drilling into the back part of the rivet (folded over part) and separating the shaft from the folded over portion. You won't harm the plastic cause you are drilling into the back of the bracket that holds the plastic. Just take it easy

Thanks Mancave ill give it a go. I tried ordering another right plastic test it with but I couldn't find one with the cooling towers already on!

I assume you also drilled the holes into back of the cooling towers as well?

Hi club,

I've recently put together what I think is quite a nice Pinsound mix for Judge Dredd for my pinsound board. I've tried to post it on that pinsound community forum but my file size is too big (larger than 200MB I believe). I could put it up on google drive if anyone was interested? The voices are the same unfortunately (I don't have the talent or capacity to re-create them in HD audio) but the music and jingles are all different as is some of the FX. I have also put in multiple tracks in all of the music folders so Pinsound randomly selects a track every time (one of the cooler and less utilised features of pinsound in my opinion). The tracks range from classic punk to industrial rock to heavy rock to electronica and even some psy-trance. I went for a apocalyptic postmodern vibe. Of course the tracks are copyrighted so you would have to own the tracks yourself etc etc.

I have a deadworld mod ring installed too. But I recently went back to L7 ROM from L1AT ROM because I like the small bug fixes they made on L7 and fixed some of the modes (eg. double missles work on pursuit with the ? Target) that were still in prototype on L1. I do miss the three balls in the planet but to be honest it makes the game faster. I realllllly wish someone would make an L7 ROM with the deadworld locking. That would be perfect for me

#2644 6 years ago

Is anyone willing to do a custom Pinsound mix for Dredd? I've made a custom one but it only has new music and maybe one or two SFX replaced, not a complete revamp. I think this game would really benefit from a fully custom sound mix with new Music, Voices and SFX. Hell, i'd be willing to chip in to get it made! I just don't have the resources to do it myself. Any takers?

Also, would anyone want to try adding Deadworld Mod locking (all 3 balls) along with all the bug fixes from L7 onto a new ROM? Probably not possible but these two things (custom Pinsound mix and revamped ROM) would be my dream come true.

#2646 6 years ago

Yeah I noticed a few changes like the main shooter lane was more responsive and the coil reacted quicker. The left shooter was also firing better with Air Raid. I noticed that voices didn't overlap as much (might have something to do with Pinsound as it included all sound files, some only used in certain version of the ROM), and I noticed that if you hit the question mark target during pursuit it would activate double missles with ramp shots (something that L1AT didn't do; I believe with L1AT after you hit the ? Target on pursuit it stops all missles entirely haha).

It still hasn't stopped the bug of the left ramp not working properly during manhunt millions when the planet is spinning (it always locks a ball instead of registering a manhunt million ramp shot). Other than that I like L7 even though I miss my 3 balls orbiting around deadworld :/

Thanks for posting this. I wish there was a complete list of the changes between L1 and L7. The release notes seem to skip over several aspects, minor or not.

Hi everyone,

I have a coin door question (I know, exciting). I have a two-slot coin door. Ive put in an Australian $1 coin mech on the left slot and an Australian 0.20c coin mech on the right slot. I'm trying to set the game for $1 per play, $2 for Supergame.

Ive tried messing around with Custom pricing and coin door options but I am stumped.

Any recommendations on how I can do this?

Everything in pinball is difficult I've gathered, but always satisfying when its solved.

ps I am using L7 ROM at this time.

Quoted from Mancave:

I had a look at the manual and i couldn't find anything suggesting a specific dollar amount between regular and super game so i'm not sure you can set the machine like that. The 2 Australia options are either 1 game for $1 / 3 games for $2 OR 1 game for $1 / 2 games for $2. Super game is treated the same as Regular game, still only 1 credit for either option. I'd be interested to know if anyone can add to this?

Thanks mancave! I'll try that out! I can't seem to get custom pricing options in A3 01 Game Pricing so this may help.

Also, how do you get the machine to tell what coin value is in each slot? I have a two slot door and I don't know what to put for Left, Centre, Right and 4. Which one corresponds to what?

Thanks for helping out an Aussie!

Isn't it "drock"? This is a swear word and a substitute for the f-word or the sh-word in Mega City according to the Dredd universe.

Quoted from gunstarhero:

I don’t find Dredd deep as much as there is a lot of it. It has a ton of modes, plus Supergame, but you can’t stack modes or do anything really strategic besides try for the bonus doubler when you have a lot of bonus stacked up, and the wizard mode is as basic as it gets although it’s still a blast to get to, especially if you manage to do it through the multiball.

Yes I think Dredd has a lot to do but maybe not "deep" when compared to a LOTR or TSPP or even newer Sterns. That being said I think it was deep for its time. I think a p-roc re-writing of the rules would be amazing with this pin given the wide layout and interesting, unique shots.

For me, in its current state, what would make Dredd an absolute winner for me would be another code update with the ability to have Deadworld mod locking along with the L7 rom bug fixes, and a proper re-orchestrated Pinsound mix!

There is also some hope that soren will also be coding a new Dredd ROM. It has been discussed in his thread. I think if it happens you will get the Dead World Locking mod of L-1 with the bug fixes/ball shooter logic of L-7. I have been holding out on doing the Dead World L-1 for this reason. He has done 7 Bally/Williams updates so far I think.

Does anyone know if the L-1D ROM chip is available anywhere to purchase yet?

Quoted from Da-Shaker:

I haven't had any issues with 85 yet, but i'm working on switch 61/62 now. I guess they are the same switch. Also, how many balls are supposed to be played on the average spell JUDGE multi-ball. I'm getting 4 ball and thought it was supposed to be 6. Is there an add a ball?

It’s 4 ball for the regular deadworld multiball but it’s a six ball once you reach the Ultimate Challenge. It’s also a six ball multiball if you knock down all DREDD drop targets during two ball play in the super game.
