*** Questions from a new Owner of a Judge Dredd w/ Deadworld Mod ***
Hello All;
I got lucky and my Pinside Wanted Add led to me purchasing a beautiful Jedd Dredd locally.
The Deadworld Mod worked great for several days! Then, started acting a bit goofy...
The things I've noticed so far:
1) Check Trough Switch 1 message.
2) Occasionally, during Deadworld Multiball, balls are re-launched until I collect all 4 Jackpots, then continue normally.
My machine is running a Pin-Tek CPU board equipped with a ROM labeled L1-AT Judge Dredd (LED) CPU U6.
My machine has a brand new looking set of Great Lakes Modular Trough Opto Boards.
The Crain Opto was working intermittently. I fixed that issue by replacing the wires from the opto to the connector, and the connector itself.
All optos now seem to work fine. (For good measure, I cleaned all of them.)
The Crain now unloads the balls perfectly every time, after which the Crain stops moving and the Globe stops spinning.
I understand that the Deadworld Mod uses pre-production software. Could both these issues be due to software errors?
For the Trough Switch 1 Error: I was playing the standard game exclusively, so only 4 of the 6 balls were ever in play at one time.
This "feels" like trough 1 was never used in the usual 30 games/ 90 balls, so the switch was tagged for the message.
Manually removing the balls and testing the trough Switch Edges clears the message. I think that playing the Super Game will also clear the message.
For the Multiball: This "feels" like I somehow managed to activate a test mode for testing multiball rewards. The Crain unloads all the balls on the first attempt, then stops, as it should. (It's not trying to unload balls that are not there.) After the last of the 4 jackpots is collected, the game stops relaunching balls and goes back to functioning normally.
Does everyone using this ROM Version have the same issues?
Are there any workarounds (other than uninstalling the Deadworld Mod)?
BTW: What is with the ROM being labeled "(LED)"? I can't find any reference to it online. The pin is equipped with LEDs, but for some reason, these LEDs don't piss me off. They don't seem to turn on and off as abruptly as most LEDs. Is that special software, special LEDs, or my imagination?
Thanks to everyone for their help!
