I joined the club yesterday! Excited to add the Deadworld mod and maybe light up the crane area somehow, and I need some drop target decals. Also very tempted to add the colorDMD. Just looks so great on this one.

Question: my flashers work fine during gameplay, but do not flash during flasher tests. Anyone run into something like this before?

Thanks!

Close coindoor to perform test, rethink deadworld mod as I believe the step back from L7 rom isn’t worth it. Get ColorDMD

PinRob Interesting, I thought I read that the improvements made between L1-AT and L7 were minor, albeit I wasn't able to find exactly what those differences were. What would the drawbacks be?

Thanks.

Edit: found the changelog here https://pinside.com/pinball/market/shops/1083-matt-s-basement-arcade/00913-judge-dredd-pinball-cpu-rom-u6

Are there any other changes? None of that seems significant, but I’m interested in your take.

Quoted from luckymoey:

Pretty sure that’s a silk screened cabinet so all you really need is the PinGuard protectors with properly tightened leg bolts.

This is wrong. Pinguards make new wear higher up.
Use the Pinguards to cover up the old damage but only after you have placed some of those metal leg spacers underneath to keep the pinguards away from the cabinet.

Hi!

Did it just like yours. Just removed the white plastics and screwed the screws deeper. The plastics don’t even touch the backboard! Thanks!

That not how I did mine, I didn’t remove anything, I just bent the plastic to go under the apron. I’d be concerned the way you did it that after time the apron will rub on the bottom of the plastic and remove the artwork.

Yeah, that might be an issue. Will raise the plastic a bit so that it doesn’t rest on the apron. I think there is some wiggle room left until it touches the back box when raised.
Thanks for the input!

Kind of mute anyway, not like Pinbits is selling the mod anymore. They show up on eBay once in a while but thats not often.

Are Crime Scenes supposed to be awarded regardless of which direction the ball travels through the path?

For example, if the left orbit Crime Scene is lit at ball start, simply launching the ball will award me that Crime Scene as it makes its way around to the upper left flipper. This provides a ton of free points when UC starts launching balls with all Crime Scenes lit. Is that fair game?

edit: Just saw this happen on a PapaTV JD gameplay video. Must be legit.

For those that don't follow the HEP thread, he is starting a JD restoration. Should be a few weeks of JD porn coming up...

I just installed the Deadworld mod. L1-AT code does NOT award the left orbit Crime Scene. The factory setting is also 7 Crime Scenes for EB, L7 is 6. So L1-AT is objectively more difficult, which is cool.

Hot off the press. I figured you guys would appreciate it if I shared...

There's some glare but it does look really nice. Will have to get some new trim and redo the lighting in the backbox. More photos to come!

Guys,

Have any of you installed pinsound in your Dredd? I'm wanting to buy it for my Batman Data East but would like to have the option of installing it in my Dredd first ( testing purposes, and future upgrade ). Just wondering if I need to order additional parts for Dredd that's not shown in the screensot below. I'm not planning to replace the Dredd speakers at the moment...just seeing if I can easily swap the boards from original to pinsound. The reason I'm asking is because I want to try it out on Dredd before having a rebuilt Batman. In other words, I'm anxious to get a pinsound.

Thanks!

I bought my game early last month and love it! It plays fast after cleaning all of the mechs, and a good topside cleaning. The flippers were weak - ramp shots were difficult - but I rebuilt them and now they're nice and strong. I also noticed the left shooter lane was kind of lame and found that the wrong coil was there. According to the manual it should be an AE 23-800, but there was a AE 25-1000 there instead. Rather than buy a new coil, I swapped it with the knocker coil that is also a AE 23-800. Much better now. Another issue I'm addressing is that the machine will do a ball search once and a while during game play for no reason. It turns out that the ball trough is worn. I ordered an anti-mag shim so that ball travel is smoother.

Congrats! It really is an underrated game and a lot of fun. One of 3 games in my collection bolted to the floor.

After 2 years, finally found the time to finish the Dredd topper i was making for my pinball machine. Unfortunately i sold the pinball 1 years ago.
So, if anyone interested, i can sell this prototype. I wont make any more.
Main figure is 3D printed in PETG (around 2Kg) and airbrushed, back image is high quality printed on 2mm transparent polycarbonate. Support allow to install a led stripe.20210323_103022 (resized).jpg20210323_103022 (resized).jpg

Question for the group. I am trying to figure out how the target bank reset mechanism works, the one that knocks the drop targets down. The one that lifts works fine, but at the start of Safecracker it goes nuts. The solenoid works and is firing, but it does not knock down the targets. It has not worked since I acquired this "100% working and solid" machine... Figures.

Am I missing a part or is there an adjustment I am missing?

In any case, thanks!

Probably the easiest way to a replacement is to buy some firm wire (e.g. welding wire) and bend it yourself. It should be manageable just from the pics and the assembly parts, but maybe someone has the measurements at hand? Just 2 pics the part on a piece of scale paper might do too.. Or Davi can pull them from the CAD file?

#3979 3 years ago

For safecracker mode the coil will keep firing until the opto switch sees the center target drop. If you can't locate the part, you might be able to fabricate one out of piano wire. You can get an idea of the wire guage needed by the hooks on the plastic target stop that hold it in place. Make sure the plastic piece is completely intact - Marco's sells them if you need a new one. I had to replace mine and it was only a few dollars.

I just ordered the plastic piece from Marcos but still have to fabricate or find the wire. Does anyone have a photo of how it attaches within the game?

Never mind. Found some old photos in the thread and google and am posting for myself and anyone who might need these in the future. Picked up some wire on the way into work this morning and am going to make an attempt tonight. Wish me luck!

#3992 3 years ago

A bunch of reasons.

A- wanted to give back to the community a bit. And preserve the engineering of the parts. I have put a bunch of stuff over at Pinball makers.

B- I was trying to put together a library of parts for playfield layout and i asked a popular designer if he would be willing to share his ACAD templates. ( IE inserts, mechs, etc.) When i was refused, i figured i would make my own. Then figured Solidworks would make more sense than ACAD....

C- I used to spend a lot of time out of the country, I would take a bunch of mechanisms with me and reverse engineer them in my spare time to keep me occupied. I also saw some challenging things that kept my Solidworks skills sharp.

D- you know everybody wants to make a pin

Wow... this is way harder than it looks. I need to find 1/16th inch. I am using 1/8th. That will probably make it much easier. Looking at the machine there is alot of room for error, but I need to do better than this and I need the part I have on order from Marcos to connect it to. First attempt.

Yeah. It’s not going to be an easy part. I think you should start with the “V” in the middle. You will need to assure the straight sections on either side are parallel (in both planes) otherwise the part will bind in the plastic .... the v itself probably doesn’t need to be perfect, it just knocks the target off the “ledge”.

.040 or .050 music wire would probably work also...

My goodness I went insane looking for this thing. The only thing I found with it was the entire assembly and it would have been $300 to get it shipped from Australia. I just ordered this thing express. I will still make an attempt at making my own with what I have on hand but a pack of welding rods of Amazon is almost $20. My only problem is last time I had something shipped from Australia was this past June. My wife got her Birthday present in the mail from Australia... a book mark... last week. I am paying $50 for this one part to get it here quickly but it will be a weight off my chest to know the game is fully fixed and playable. Thank you and thank you everyone here.
