Thanks for posting. I don't love the price but it is realistic. Time to pull the trigger.

#452 5 years ago

does anyone have or know where to get a JD main ramp? Mine is all broken

#453 5 years ago

Price has gone up quite a bit, but it says there are four left.

Most of you guys probably have already sorted this but i shall post it for any JD owners that may be in need in future. Through another thread, i offered to give dimensions for a JD topper bracket that i made up for myself as i'm fairly sure they can't be bought anymore. So here's the pics with dimensions added plus a few extra pics as well, if i confuse anybody with the dimensions just shoot me a PM and i'll get back to you asap.

Anyone interested in me making new Pursuit plastics? Does it light up during gameplay?

Pursuit plastics are desperately needed, please do! There are flashers underneath that light up like police lights during certain modes in the game.

Any mods you make for the machines i have is WELCOME !!!

#459 5 years ago

Wow!! Over $350 by the time you add shipping costs for a new main ramp. Ridiculous!!

As soon as they run out, somebody's bound to make more. With any luck at all. Those are probably the last of the NOS. I picked one up about a year and a half ago for around $120.

My brother made me a set for mine. PPS still sells the decal. He might be able to make another set for the right price, I would have to ask him. They were tricky to make but they turned out good IMO>

Hey guys! Have any of you had problems with JD chewing up balls? I've only had my JD for about a month but brand new balls are already really rough. Could it be the subway or maybe the end of the wireforms near the flippers?

never had this issue... I'd check for something that may be missing a rubber pad, etc... there should be blue pads at the end of the ramp returns to the flippers (as I recall - machine is in folk's basement)

#471 5 years ago

^^ Yup blue pads

#472 5 years ago

Dang! this game is intense. I can't believe how fast it is. It's at 7.5 angle but I can still hit all the ramps (if I hit them square) so I think I'll leave it that way.

mrofnoc sold me an absolutely beautiful machine. I don't know how it stayed for sale as long as it did but I am glad I'm a dreddhead now.

Me either, that game is awesome. I had it around 6.8 but kicked around going steeper. Guess I needed to take my skirt off, lol. Glad you're happy sir!

Its still a secret how good it is .when people come over they are surprised how good it is and wonder why its not more popular im glad I already have my mint one because sooner or later its going to catch on like bsd has

Yeah buddy! You don't know how tempted I was to make the drive up north and pick that one up. At one time I had three all at the same time! I sold my incredibly nice one to a friend and kept the one in the middle. It is still a very nice one and plays just like I remember from back in the day. Fast and fun!

Thinking of taking advantage of the cointaker 25% discount this weekend to put some LEDs in mine. http://shop.cointaker.com/category.sc?categoryId=78

Go with the complete kit? Or the super brites? Anyone have an opinion on that? I assume the non-ghosting add on is necessary if you got that way.

Also can't remember offhand if there are dimming effects on the GI...because often people will just leave standard bulbs for the GI to accommodate.

Thanks!

#477 5 years ago
Quoted from ryanwanger:

I bought the Super bright kit for the insert and controlled lamps only. It is really a timesaver and supers are the way to go. I had some lesser bulbs in there before but they just didn't pop.

For the GIs I don't get a kit. I use a variety of other cointakers to get the illumination I like. But the insert kit is a good way to start. They come all mapped out.

Yea go with the kit because jd uses alot of flex and different bulbs. Also not sure about ghosting as I have a special deadworld non ghosting rom so I have no ghosting but most roms do ghost in jd .

The "Blackout" mode does use GI dimming effects. Therefore you have two choices:
1) Stick with incandescent bulbs
2) Use LED's, but turn off GI dimming in the menu.

I had a totally LED'd JD, but I still got the blackout effect by turning off GI dimming, but adding incandescent spot lights on each side to illuminate the center of the playfield. It looked real nice.

I bet you miss it now! Not to worry, JD is a $1400 game folks.

I do miss it. Only pin I ever (sort-of) regret moving along.

You can always get another! Remember I had three at one time. I went and played the one I sold to my friend a few weeks ago, and I really can't believe how nice it is. I just wasn't into all the brass plating that had been done on the habitrails and such. I like the original industrial look myself. But the rest of the machine is immaculate. No, it wasn't a $1400 game, but the one I kept started as an $1800 game. It serves the purpose.

I need to get some of those custom cards like my gold one had.

I wish it was 1400 I paid substantially more for a near perfect one with some mods

I've never added a spot light...where kind did you get (and are they easy to install)?

Pretty easy to install.

Put them on a slingshot post, snake the wires through a hole under the sling plastic and solder them to any GI light that makes sense.

Awesome - thanks. Well within my abilities.

IMO Dredd needs spots bad. I added 7 spots to mine and a led strip in the back, much better now 2 on each sling, one by the upper left flipper pointing towards the orbit and two up by the upper right flipper shining on the air raid entry area.

I've got 3 so far (one on each sling and one pointing towards the meltdown towers). Can you please post a pic of the placements on your machine?

Sold a Dredd this week but don't worry, I have another. Spent the weekend cleaning it, installing new rubbers and generally whipping it into shape. Today the drop target decals went on - why these aren't standard I'll never understand. Blank drop targets just look weird.

Also replaced this toasty connector. Welcome back, all you backbox lights:

People who installed the deadworld mod I need some help. The first ball loads flawless but it never shoots or loads up another in the shooter lane. I checked the opto's (left ramp to lock, the one next to the crane says not used, globe exit) All six opto's in the ball through are working as well. Am I missing something?

#498 5 years ago

Never mind. It needed a through liner. All is good.

#499 5 years ago

Put some black pearl pinballs in the captive ball area tonight. Looks pretty badass.

Does anyone know somewhere that sells repro prototype sniper tower plastics? Man, it's such a simple thing but SO much better than the boring text and arrow on the production models.
