Linked Games

#1 7 years ago

I'm a newbie with my first machine – Judge Dredd – and need advice on what to look for with a flashers problem. Last game, the pursuit flashers blinked a few times then stopped altogether. Now tests can't make them work. So far, I've determined it's not the fuse, and it's the larger set of flashers (incl. the judge lights, and pursuit, black out and globe flashers, all of which are listed as having the solenoid part number 24-8802 [which feels like a clue]). Can anyone with patience for a not-terribly-tech-minded owner offer any advice on what to check? Many thanks.

Did you pull and check fuse with a meter ? Check bulbs ? check flasher voltage test point on power driver board ?

TP7 20 volt test point. Flasher fuse F111 - both on power driver board.

Hey, thanks LTG. I checked the fuse – it's fine. The bulbs are good too. But I don't know about the voltage test point – I'm guessing without a meter I can't do that. Time to get a voltage meter, then?

Yes. Youtube it littered with short how to videos.

One meter probe on ground ( metal plate the boards are fastened too works, or ground braid running around the back box side and floor ) and one probe on TP7 - should get 20 volts. If not, then might be the bridge rectifier for it. At which point I suspect you haven't done board repair, so you'll need help. Johnwartjr posts here, as well as Chrishibler, and Borygard. They can assist you.

How did you check the fuse without a meter. Visually isn't enough. You need to pull and check with a meter.

Not with a meter, no, but I have replacements and tried a few with no change.

I'm ordering a voltage meter now.

Were the replacements blowing as soon as you put them in and powered up ? Or good ? something to check when you get your meter.
