I have owned both and enjoyed each tremendously. The Shadow is by far the most challenging. I only reached The Final Battle a couple of times and never completed it. The super game feature on JD is neat to mix things up once in a while but I did not use it much. If I had to choose I would take Shadow over JD but would be happy with either.
