    Quoted from Zitt:

It's when someone claims to be doing a kickstarter that crosses the line.

Another wrinkle is that it seems there is/was a second profile on Facebook which may have been impersonating @eneatoluzzo.

    Quoted from RyanStl:

It's amazing how easy it is for a FB post to lead to a blog post, and then the dominos afterwards. Vetting info for an article is difficult because you don't know what is real or not. Easy to get duped by a fake account. Other than reaching out to OP via Pinside, not sure how you could have vetted your story better. Worth thinking about.

It's really very rare for someone to impersonate someone else and/or intentionally mislead people with pinball news.

    Quoted from Mbecker:

So if you bring a one off homebrew to a show after being told not to by an IP owner- what can they sue you for?

Misrepresentation, brand confusion, trademark infringement, copyright infringement....

    Quoted from Mbecker:

From earlier posts it would seem you’re in the clear but I guess lawyers can always come up with some bullshit.

It's not generally worth their (or their lawer's) time to come after someone doing a personal project, or the optics that would go along with the attention from doing that. Technically, you're not in the clear unless you actually have a license agreement.
