hi all
my buddy has a BSD and he has to change the batteries every month. Any one have any ideas on the cause/fix?

this is usually a shorted blocking diode. test the diodes around the battery looking for one shorted in both directions.

in this case yes. Because there is nothing in parallel across it.
you cannot test a diode in circuit on something like a solenoid coil because of the being across the low resistance of the solenoid.
