TaylorVA and I had a great conversation this evening. I took my topper off and sent him some photos. We thought these may help others.

Note: I really did try to keep the original Dalek head as possible, but a lot of material was needed to be removed to get it to fit over the mech. I also mounted the mech backwards from the instructions, but it still works great.

I also trimmed off the flange off the top of the Dalek Base. This allowed for a nice tight gap between the Dalek top and the Dalek base.

Enjoy,
faz

Given the concept of what we are doing was never even dreamed of in 1992 I call it a win being able to get it mounted at all.

One of the things that I find interesting on any mod. They based it upon a machine or if lucky 1-2 machines. Who knows how consistent the machines are coming off the line.

Remember about 10 years ago CPR made DW mini-playfied repros... they were off a sold 1/8 inch and they supposedly had THE best sample.

Now that you have the topper in.. how's it working?

Some heads shrink or sag depending upon environment. I've seen some weird lists where the head pitches forward or to the side. You may need to account for that too.

When you start trimming back the plastic on the bottom, just go slow. Take tiny little bites and try it out. It may take a few hours but you can't put it back if you take off too much.
