Love them or hate them, doctors do save lives.

Some see their physicians regularly and take all the advice they are given, where others only go when the have a broken bone or a severed artery. And still others are afraid of what doctors will do to them altogether.

There are doctors that go above and beyond the call of duty and become world famous. Dr. Seuss and Dr. Benjamin Spock were two of the most influential doctors on children that grew up in the 1960s like myself.

Tell us about the doctors you love and the doctors you hate, and some of the experiences you had with them.

You forgot, 'Dr. Love'.

I guess I forgot Dr. Strangelove too. Sorry.

Dr. Holmes from Deep Throat.

I did it again. In the poll I have commas where there should be periods. Doh!

Maybe there is a doctor out there that can help me with my punctuation.

What about Dr. No ?

#7 6 years ago

If the poll would allow more choices, I would have added all the great ones I could think of.

I voted Dr. Seuss , his books are great .

On a serious note, I have a ton of respect for the doctors who have treated several of my family members for cancer—knowing that sometimes it’s a losing battle, remain steadfast and supportive.

More recently, my grandmother had been suffering from Alzheimer’s. The ultimate lost battle, and yet, these brilliant neurologists see it as an opportunity to learn as to hopefully keep future people from suffering.

I couldn’t imagine dealing with so much adversity in a profession. Major kudos.

Children of the 50s and early 60s were often referred to as Spock babies. I'd like to think that has something to do with the logical thinking I do today.

#25 6 years ago

Well, if it was like the good old days I would have added the poll after I got input from everybody else, but you can't do that any more.

So I did the best I could in the condition I was in without seeing a doctor first.

I'm going to give a big thumbs up to the doctors that treated me about 5 years ago and removed that melanoma from the back of my leg in time and saved my life.

Big thumbs down to the alcoholic oral surgeon that thought it would be a good idea to surgically remove a bunch of my teeth when I was a kid. And left me with the consequences of that for the rest of my life.

Spock was not a doctor. He was referred to as Mister Spock throughout the course of the Original Series.

Dr. Zhivago, I got my name from him. My parents must have been on drugs lol.
