Hi,

I have a problem with the left display. It lights the middle horizontal segment over all digits. It is not linked to the display itself as I replaced it and the same thing occurs.

The ribbon was also replaced, without solving the issue.

Can someone help me please?

Thanks

Please post a picture of the CPU board. Focus on the area above, below and to either side of the batteries.

Battery damage has eaten one of the traces between the PIAs, srcs, and ij22. You need to neutralize, sand, and repair before the damage gets worse.

Have you seen a track in particular ? I Guess all corroded tracks must be first cleaned with white vinegar and distilled water. Then ?

All the dark/discolored traces have corrosion damage. All the solder connections that are no longer shiny have corrosion damage.

There is probably only one trace that is causing the current display issue, but many traces are probably in marginal condition and will soon fail, too.

I read it carefully. In fact the very tiny tracks are damaged, from the srcs on the top down to the large socketed IC. They say that I have to sand them, but should I do anything else, as repairing these tracks looks impossible ?

Sand the black stuff off until you see bright shiny copper. Test continuity between points - according to the schematic. Anything that isn't correct can be repaired with "jumper wire". This is often called "wire wrap" or "Kynar wire wrap".
