Bought a Dr dude knowing the magnet wasn't working, did a visual check and the r1 resistor on the small high current driver board was blown. So I replaced it with the manual specified part, first time the magnet grabbed the ball the same resistor blew. I know they sell a newer updated version of this high current board and I thought about trying this first. Any thoughts or help on this issue would be excellent pun intended.

Did you check the magnet coil to make sure it's not shorted?

The coil has 6.2 ohms of resistance with the machine off.
