Quoted from sd_tom:Yeah this has me a little worried but I'm in for now. I still have the last payment in April left, so I've got 7k at risk here.. not great, but this is a dream theme. I realize Phil has concerns about licensing and what happens if universal gets pissed off enough to pull the license. That's real ; the rest I'm not sure belonged out on the internet. It seems Phil wants to destroy them now.. him posting an email address to somebody at universal.. that seems too far.. I can only imagine that even if everything was 100% fine before.. a bunch of crazed pinball nerds emailing this woman would now put the license in jeopardy.. so, yeah.. Phil went too far in my opinion and seems to be wanting there to be a run on the bank now.. even though i think everything he mentioned could have been worked through eventually (and I still hope it does).
I'm still in. I'd like to hear from Barry and Jaap also. So much time and effort has gone in to this project and the machine they created is amazing imo. It would be a shame if this pinball machine never got made. I'm still thinking that this is a disgruntled former employee.
Quoted from foxtj24:I re-submitted my preorder payment, Now after reading this for the last 3 hours I think we all NEED to hear from Barry and DP. Atleast this starts the 180 day paypal clock over for refunds and disputes if it all goes south.
Exactly!
Here is a problem I have with Phil.
At Expo he apparently knew about all these so called problems yet was talking up TBL and lets be honest here, talked an awful lot of people including myself to get in on a preorder and becoming a VIP
member.Remember what you said at Expo. Rug and Chrome if you order by October 19th. Nothing was said at Expo or when Phil left the company. Nothing was said until today not just anyday this was the NYC VIP Launch. Very interesting and selfish in my opinion.
We are not children here we are grown men. You can't tell me this type of thing can"t be discussed and settled upon privately. By Phil putting it all out there may Jeopardize further dealings with Universal to get this licensing thing sorted out (if indeed it is a real problem) Would like to hear Barry and Jaap respond to Phil's accusations.
I will be staying in for now. I have 180 days now that I refreshed Paypal and reinstated my order.
I want to hear both sides of the story before I make a rash decision.
The $10,000 for the Kahlua seems like not a bad deal considering they paid nothing for the Brunswick rights. Say they have 200 preorders that's just $50.00 a machine.
They can"t afford to do that to keep the authenticity of the machine.
It is amazing how much fear and panic one person can cause.
I'm still in because I'm impressed with what DP has produced so far. The video of PAPA and fellow Pinsiders I have communicated with who have actually seen and played TBL.
DP is not one person. It is a team. I have complete faith in the DP team completing this machine from communicating with Barry and discussing my concerns.
I'm sure all of us that have not abandoned ship will be very happy with the outcome.
TBL is going to be a fantastic Pinball machine!
Have faith Dudes!
There is 4 payments as far as I can see. Paid up on 3.
4th Payment due April 1st (April Fools Day) for all you conspiracy theorists .
I do get a laugh at some of the "sky is falling" conjecture and speculation.
Everyone that has requested a refund will get a refund . This whole deal is because of a disgruntled employee. It will get all straightened out and we will be back on track.
Hopefully discussing NSN updates and not this pie in the sky made up crap.
Dudes it's time to chill. Go out bowling or something.
Not worth it to get all worried about posts that are exaggerated and mostly made up.
TBL is getting made and those of us that are still in are going to be very very happy we did.
Later Dudes!
Quoted from inhomearcades:Agree, I am an asshole, an asshole with no answers other than finger pointing and 8500 short in the bank.
Email Barry and voice your concerns.
I have and I now have no concerns.
Here's my story.
Got a unrequested refund from Phil.
Barry emailed me explaining the situation and to retry PayPal .
Followed Barry's instructions and then confirmed with Barry he has my money.
He emailed me back confirming. Sent Jan 1st. Payment.
Confirmed via email with Barry he received that Payment.
Barry confirmed he received Payment.
I'm cool with that.
I trust Barry and DP to get TBL built and delivered this year.
Absolutely. I want all those that want refunds to receive them.
Hopefully before the end the month.
Just this great project to get back on track again.
All of us that are staying in have a lot of money invested and only want this great machine to be made so all us Dudes out there can enjoy!
Let us not forget Phil seemed to have no problem at Expo getting people to sign up for TBL.
If he was truly that upset with what he thought was wrong why did he not boycott being at Expo.
He was talking and throwing out the fbombs about how awesome DP was.
Then afterwards says they are not so good.
Disgruntled employee. Nothing more nothing less. He is a part of whatever was wrong and just as much to blame.
Quoted from robfg67:Hwawonyu, how is my focus negative?
I am not an investor, but considered it when the game was first announced as I have been a big fan of the movie/Jeff Bridges and also have had pinball machines (T2 currently, and Space Jam & Fun House previously).
I feel sick about the situation and it appears as if the company will not make it. If I had any deposit money in, I would be fighting for it back and that is the ONLY reason I posted.
You don't know if the company is going to make it or not.
Not everyone wants a refund . There are a lot of people still in.
Quoted from jazzmaster:I wish DP would issue refunds so that all of you guys would shut the fuck up!
It would be interesting to find out how many actual people there are wanting refunds .
I'd also like to see them get their refunds as soon as possible so we can move on.
Amazing one guy can cause all this turmoil.
Quoted from inhomearcades:What happens when no letter is emailed out? Not saying it will but then dp will really have some upset people.
What happens if the letter comes out and explains how all the refund requesters get their refunds?
I guess will have to wait and see.
I'm so happy that their timeline is on schedule.
Looks like I'll get TBL this year.
Great work DP!
You would think after seeing the progress made that even some of the people wanting refunds would reconsider. I'm sure those on the fence for sure would decide to stay in.
All I know is I'm glad that I stayed with DP.
No one really knows how many refunds there are or how many preorders there are.
I did find out this though. The Dutch Pinball Association (NFV) is one of the largest in the world.
So while DP is straightening out DPUSA here the market in the Netherlands is quite robust.
Who knows how many preorders they have over in Europe . It could be more than here.
