Quoted from kaneda:

Is DP in for a possible legal battle?have they broken a law regarding copyright infringement in the USA?

If they spend money on obtaining liscences will they run out of money to build?

Has anyone ever pre-ordered a lawyer before?

#558 9 years ago

Actually that was me responding to Kaneda.I mean, thats what it sounds like :Copyright infringement.
These dudes are Dutch and maybe didn't realize until too late
It seems thats what Phil was referring to when he said "doing it the right way:"
Some of the other buzz words were 'integrity" and "clean".
Someone also mentioned that the songs were available in Europe but maybe not here.

#957 9 years ago

Heartbreaking....and I don't even have a pre-order.

Quoted from Matt_Rasmussen:

They will sue you for everything you have.

Can you imagine the entire legal dept at Universal vs. 2 dudes from the Netherlands who want to build a toy?

#1536 9 years ago

Wow!!!
Great posts by Kevin from CPR.A real business man who has a real co. in pinball.Awesome insight.Real information based on experience rather than all of us speculators. However I have some questions.

1)How much does Roger Sharpe's services cost? Can DP afford him long term if it takes awhile to straighten stuff out?
2)How long to legally remove Phil and get set up as a legit US business?
3)How long to redesign/make changes?
4)How long to get everybody their refunds and/or reinvest those refunds if they come back?
5)Once/if these problems are straightened out, where and how will the games be built? Its been discussed(Skit B thread) that boutique co.s can make 2 to 3 games per week.If they are to deliver 500 games it would take 166 weeks(3 per week).

Maybe some these have been answered on here and I missed them but I feel these are legitimate concerns.

Quoted from Benboogaard:

Dp has sourced out the production of the games.

Sourced out to who?
Stern or JJP?Because those are the only pinball factories I know of.Incidentally that would cost money too.

#1547 9 years ago
Quoted from Benboogaard:

No the games are produced in the Netherlands.

Is it a pinball assembly line type facility?i.e how many per week, how long would it take for pre orders to be filled?
The reason I ask is with all the focus of our community on the NEW problems nobody seems to be asking:"After youguys clean up, when do I get my game."

#1549 9 years ago

Just saw the pics of their facility.GOOD NEWS!!!!Finally a light!!!!

#1553 9 years ago

Got it!!!
My main concern is still the game.If i was in I wouldn't really want to concern myself with the internal workings of DP.My focus would be " gave you a deposit(or 2)wheres my game?"
I mean ,ultimately thats what you paid for.Licensing, profit margins are none of my business,I did my part(money up front),when can I expect delivery?

Quoted from pinballslave:

unless you happen to be a Millionaire...

Somebody please invite Bill Gates or Warren Buffet to your next pinball party

#1575 9 years ago
Quoted from Benboogaard:

There is a lot of private money invested even before a single pre-order was taken!

What do you want a cookie? So what? You don't get credit for things you're SUPPOSSED to do.I doesn't fix or change whats happening now.I hope they're using "private money" to pay Roger Sharpe.

Quoted from burningman:

This whole thing may have a silver lining...

Hope so,it would be great!!!

Quoted from Cenobyte:

over here we don't like to borrow money for a vacation or a car, we only take out a loan for a house,

You missed it again. It is the dream of most Americans to own their own business. What examiner was talking about was a business loan.To build your own business,be your own boss, live the "dream".Not take a loan for a vacation!!!!!Where did that come from?

Are you familiar with the phrase"Put your money where your mouth is."

Quoted from Cenobyte:No guts, no glory. You want the reward? Take the risk.

#1612 9 years ago

I was just trying to get you to see what Kevin from CPR and examiner were getting at.

ok back on topic......

Was there ever a firm delivery date?

#2069 9 years ago
Quoted from flynnibus:

basic customer service

often talked about but rarely seen in this hobby

#2071 9 years ago
Quoted from badbilly27:

My Xmas wish is that all these boutiques cut a deal with Stern. Let Stern keep the manufacturing plant fully staffed and charge all these boutiques to manufacture games for them. Let Gary be in the manufacturing business and designers be in the designing business.

This is not a bad idea!!!!Of course I don't know what it would entail. But I like it!!!!

#2078 9 years ago
Quoted from pinballslave:

wild speculation and negativity

too late

#2082 9 years ago

Stern is the largest pinball manufacturer in the world!!!!!!!
MMr is being assembled there,Im guessing with B/W parts.Boutique "A" or "B" could do their own QC.
Better yet ask PPS how they plan on QCing their MMr. Assembled, with pride,by Stern.
40 - 50 per day....... that would make a whole lotta pre order, waiting forever folks very happy.

There are probably details Im not privy too,but when badbilly brought it up it sounds better than 2-3 games per week.

I guess we will find out when MMr gets assembled by Stern.JJP could join the party as well.Either way we will find out how feasible when MMr gets built.

#2096 9 years ago
Quoted from Benboogaard:

DP has outsourced the production to an other company in the Netherlands

How many games per week can they make?

How many pre-orders?

Was there ever a delivery date for this game?

#2165 9 years ago
Quoted from metallik:

this is an internal disagreement

Exactly!!!
No sense in arguing who has the moral highground. If my money was in the only thing i would care about is when do I get the game I just paid for.

To me ,the anxiety comes from whether or not the game gets made.My problem is am i getting something for my money.

Whatever DP does internally is their problem.

#2167 9 years ago
Quoted from steigerpijp:

Q2 deadline Will be met.

So there is a delivery date!!!
I asked earlier and got crickets

#2185 9 years ago
Quoted from pinballslave:

I´m assuming this pot of gold you´re referring to is a new manufacturer kicking out quality machines with great code etc... It might not exist at the moment,

And really hasn't since B/W dropped out.

#2194 9 years ago
Quoted from metallik:

WOZ? It took a while but it's done... great game, awesome code... go buy one

Yes great game, great code.......but did not ship that way

WMS/Bally fans

hell yeah!!!!!

Quoted from MrBally:The game looks like it will be a monster earner at street and arcade locations.

I thought so too,and so did my op buddies.
