Wow, this makes the Skit-B thing look tame at this point.....

With that said I would have no problem distributing games from a warehouse hear in Nashville, TN but I'm not putting any money into it myself and would want a salary for myself and people involved. Only fair I would say "if" this game ends up being produced.

I tried to tell everyone ages ago about "pre-orders" for items like this, so unless you have a small deposit in it....licensing is no joke...how was this not licensed? Anyone that thinks it is ok for copyright infringement (if this is indeed the problem) really needs to get their priorities straight. This was at a huge pinball show. Rich people have pinballs. Do people think this would not get back to Universal???

I was in licensing for a living. ALL of that stuff has to be fully approved (and we had crazy stuff like Nintendo and Disney licenses for products) because everyone's "brand" is theirs and they can all be picky. Keep in mind licensing takes a LONG time. Stuff has to be hard copy approved via email and can take "forever", you have to have a proctor to deal with that at times. I was a Product Manager once a few years back before I moved...Phil is right, a lot of this stuff should not fly.....

I am still taking preorders on my Ghostbusters pin. I have had none yet and announced it multiple times for $8500 up front. I have a heart next to my name.

I only accept cash mailed to the Ivory Coast. Don't worry, I will send you all of your money back AND a free pinball machine eventually.

Quoted from lllvjr:

No... What u sell the game for doesn't dictate the license fee...there's a cash number they want. U base that number off how many u know u can sell. Once u exceed that number of sales u did well. Ur license is for a time period, if u didn't sell that total u expected tuff cookie, u have to buy the license again to extend the production period...

That depends on what was signed. When we dealt with Disney and Nintendo there was a fee, then royalties per item. License is a time period, yes. They would not be able to produce any more unless it was renewed.

Quoted from Cenobyte:

I'm not sure if that would be a good development. Lot's of pinheads still despise Stern and keep tellin' that Stern "plays differently" than B/W pinballs or that their build quality is not up to B/W. I'm not supporting this theory, but it would sure hurt TBL when it was built at Stern.

That's the old guard being naive. The Stern games stand up to the Bally/Williams stuff now for sure. It took some time but the games are great now. There's only so much of the same 20+ years of Bally/Williams pinballs I can take. Yes, they stand up to the test of time, (most Data East stuff does not), but the Stern stuff in the last 5-6 years plays just as well if not better. People just won't give the stuff a chance but I can assure you those people aren't sitting there playing their games 10x a day still either.
