Sorry. Probably a rookie question but, I R 1....

I put in a new ribbon cord and checked the two fuses on the display board. Still no display at all. Not fuzzy, jarbled or intermittent or anything. It is just blank at this time.
I don't have many details on how it looked as it failed since it was "on loan" at my brother in laws house at the time.

Any suggestions for next steps?

Thanks!

Markmon - txs. Just got back from another house where I could test my DMD. It works fine there. Confirmed my new ribbon cord if fine too.

Chris - txs for the link. I will study this more and will see what I can accomplish tomorrow with my DMM.

I did learn from my Bro-in-law that the display was "garbled up" for a while. It has been completely blank and lifeless since I got it back about a week ago though so there was apparently some transition period of weeks or months where it went from garbled to blank if that helps to trouble shoot it.

Thanks for the responses.

Rechecked voltages. Pin 1 to 8 are on female plug side: 116.4, 96.6*, na, 0, 0, 5, 12.2, settles at 0.7**

**Pin 8 is curious as it starts around 5VDC but drains down and settles at 0.7VDC. I believe this is the cathode that is supposed to be up around 62VDC so this seems highly suspect. !!

*Voltages stay the same when I plug in DMD and measure on the male pin side EXCEPT pin 2 goes up to 104.4. Iit is at 96.6 when DMD is not plugged in but I think this is as expected (i.e. 20 below P1 when unplugged and 12 below when plugged)

Closer look at board shows a lot of heat at and around bottom left and bottom middle region.
Also noticed the U12 IC is missing but can not find description for it in manual so maybe it is not needed on TZ. (??)

I really want to learn how to repair these boards but wondering if this may be too big of a first project since the kits I have seen do not necessarily appear to have all the parts thar look suspect to me. My soldering experience is fairly limited at this point too. Do you think this board is worth a salvage effort or must it be replaced?

WXforecaster - thanks for DC voltage tip. I was incorrectly using the AC portion of my DMM. I rechecked using the DC portion of meter and got the following assuming pins are 1 thru 8 working left to right on female plug side: 116.4, 96.6*, na, 0, 0, 5, 12.2, settles at 0.7**

*Voltages stay the same when I plug in DMD and measure on the male pin side EXCEPT pin 2 goes up to 104.4. It is at 96.6 when DMD is not plugged in but I think this is as expected (i.e. 20 below P1 when unplugged and 12 below when plugged)

**Pin 8 is curious as it starts around 5VDC but drains down and settles at 0.7VDC. I believe this is the cathode that is supposed to be up around 62VDC so this seems highly suspect. !!
Does a low voltage cathode symptom lead to any obvious steps to a fix?

(I edited my recorded voltages in my other post above i hoped of not further confusing any new readers)
