I figured I should try and show some stuff to the public before expo So here is my Doom pinball project that will be shown at expo this year. It is P-Roc powered and I'm using the PyProcGameHD + Skeleton game framework to build the software on. Don't know how far I will get on the actual rules so it may be pretty basic as far as rules and such. The layout of shots is a bit tight compared to most machines But I figured if its based on a FPS it should require accuracy. I found a really good artist to handle art and has also been helpful in the design of toys and telling me when stuff doesn't look right, Always good to have another creative person involved in these projects. Back Alley Creations is doing all powdercoating of metal parts and Matt is always a good guy to talk to about building stuff.

This machine will not be produced and is not for sale

    Eric Ridgeway

So here is the machine features list So Far.
    Widebody Machine
    4 aluminum flippers
    2 slings
    3 pop bumpers
    4 diverters
a huge custom subway system full stainless construction with a diverter to change its exit point
    3 vuks
    1 kicker
    12 targets (4 on the mini-playfield)
    3 servo controlled doors
3 fully custom stainless ramps (1 has a flap that opens)
    6 lanes (4 Inlanes and 2 outlanes)
    No shooter lane
full rgb lighting for inserts and GI
Tons of shots with a few hidden ones (Doom needs hidden stuff)

Here is a pic of the cab next to my other custom after I finished building it. You can see the framing for the start of the vault for the P-Roc and other electronics

I later eliminated all the rollover and went with Proximity switches because I didn't want to cut holes in the art

    #6 7 years ago

i had to weld and extend a flipper for the upper playfield and also a pic of one of my custom vuks.
Also all the rings I had to form for the Wireforms

And the Mini-playfield still under construction You can see i got a bit crazy in my ramp designs and fabrication. a vertical dive ramp Don't know if that's been done before, But it works great And it lights up

Still holding back a bit of stuff I'm not done with yet But just wanted to share what i got

    #17 7 years ago

    Awesome!

    #18 7 years ago

That's really cool. Doom is awesome.

    #19 7 years ago

Excellent theme! Homebrewers are doing all the great themes that I want to see, meanwhile all the production games are snoozers to me.

Nice work on the project, looks like it's going to be a ton of fun to play.

    Thanks Guys
Here i found a preview pic of the art stuck on a Metallica machine till i can find one on the actual machine lol

The artist Eric Ridgeway that worked with me is amazing with detail and is a doom fan so it made working with him lots of fun

    #22 7 years ago

    Amazing work. Thanks for sharing!

    #23 7 years ago

    wow.

    #24 7 years ago

Love how the shots come around and exit through other shots

    #25 7 years ago

surprised nobody commented on how the wireforms exit haha

    #26 7 years ago

Lots more detail on the build here if interested in a bunch of reading lol http://www.pinballcontrollers.com/forum/index.php?board=53.0

    Quoted from zacaj:

I wanted to make a bunch of shots flow to the third flipper and also keep the game play pretty fast

    #28 7 years ago

If that would be a production model I would buy that. Please take this as the biggest compliment I can make, Bonne. If you would live closer, I would love to come over for beers and hang out, just awesome all around. It is wonderful to see people that create on here.

    #29 7 years ago

also there will be art on the mini playfield and plastics may not keep the orange plastic it kinda looks weird
And lots and lots of 3d sculpts and toys will be made. That stuff gets very time consuming

    #30 7 years ago

Some of those back and forth shots look a lot like my ideas already in my Daft Punk game; I'm not ripping you off my friend. If my game ends up HALF as polished and amazing your DOOM machine I'll be happy. Awesome stuff.

You just blew my mind !!!
How fast are those exit Ramps going to be ???

    #32 7 years ago

I love how the balls will just dump into the inlanes.. It's gonna be fast! Looks great man!!!

I've been considering that myself. Unsure how it'll play, but like getting rid of reliable feeds

    #34 7 years ago

Reminds me of what hobbit should have/could have been. I like this layout better.

    #35 7 years ago

    Fantastic looking so far!!!

    #36 7 years ago

Wow! I am blown away with what some of you homebrew guys build. Looks great!

    #37 7 years ago

You guys just rock. I am from the RC Aviation scene and love creative and friendly people who appreciate other's work, hence cheers to you as well, Bombers

Lol you got that in there like 20 seconds before me!

    #39 7 years ago

Awesome work! I have to say I am amazed nobody thought of this before, it seems so obvious. This is the first theme that I know I would slam my money down on for NIB. You could start an entire franchise, up next Duke Nukem, Hail to the king, baby!

    #40 7 years ago

How does the ball get into play? From the underside pics it looks like there's a VUK on the right side that kicks it out, but I don't see one on the top side pics

    #41 7 years ago

This is sooooo amazing!!! Doom is the best theme for a pin ever! And your game looks sooo fun to play!!! Those ramps are just begging to be shot! Wheres the BFG?!

    #42 7 years ago

i haven't reinstalled that vuk yet or any for that matter in the pics at least But yes it comes from the side and shoots into that loop and goes around the orbit to the third flipper which will be part of the skill shot

    #43 7 years ago

    this is incredible.

    #44 7 years ago

I didn't even notice those wireforms dumping into the inlanes like that. Holy smokes that'll be fast.

    #45 7 years ago

Wow! Thats awesome! I use to love DOOM 1 and 2.

    Quoted from BrewinBombers:

Tried to keep everything really fast doom is fast And from my test plays since the guides are so long it is very possible to combo Your reaction times have to be good though

    #47 7 years ago

I actually had to design my outlane guides in a way to not let it roll down and back out into play when it drains after coming off of those wireforms

    #48 7 years ago

    this is amazing!

    #49 7 years ago

those ramps exits are sooo sweet.

    #50 7 years ago

Any chance for video mode? Even just pushing a flipper for turning and both together to shoot would be enough, or just turning with autofire Set up the video mode like when you trip a switch and the walls open all around you and your fucked, demons everywhere, classic doom.
