Would really love to have a Doodle Bug some time, but prefer multi-player games. Haven't been able to find what the differences in the rules are anywhere. Is there anything that carries over on Doodle Bug but not on Dipsy Doodle? Other differences?

Do you mean Dipsy Doodle?
A friend of mine has Love Bug. As far as I can tell, Doodle Bug is a replay model, and Love Bug is add a ball. Dipsy Doodle is the replay four player model. Otherwise, from what I've seen and played, they're identical (except for artwork).
Oops! I could've sworn it was the other way around. Renamed...
So there's no carry-over of any state ball to ball on Doodle/Love Bug? It's just a 4P game with only one set of reels?
Quoted from zacaj:So there's no carry-over of any state ball to ball on Doodle/Love Bug?
From what I remember, there's no carry over. Everything resets at the end of each ball. So yea, basically a 4P game with one set of reels. Kinda disappointing.
Granted, there isn't much to carry over anyway. It's not like a Gottlieb with a hearty amount of drops or rollovers. Really, all there is are the 5 Pops that light up; but when the ball drains, they reset. The game's "secret sauce" is that doodle magnet feature.
I own both Doodle Bug and Dipsy Doodle.
Differences are;
DB 1 player.
DD 4 player.
DB backglass has up to 10(?) "balls to play" lights.
DD has std ball count 1-5.
DB has a value increase when 1,2,3,4 targets are consecutively hit from 10pts to 100pts to 1000pts to 10000pts.
DD has 10pts, to 100pts.
DB has cool lights in the Doodle Bug eyes on the backglass that light/flash when the DB point switch is activated.
DD has a large breasted woman on the backglass. No flashing here.
DB will award an Extra Ball when center target is hit after completing 1,2,3,4.
DD will award an EB when when center target is hit at a random 10pt controlled time. UNLESS, you modify it like I have done to mine so that the EB rules=DB Makes it much more fun/challenging. Next up, adding the backbox controlled light feature.
