There are two levers mounted on the top of the inside that you need to loosen and slide back, then the backglass lifts up and can be taken out the front

Taking the backglass out and shipping it separately greatly increases the odds of it being damaged. The head is the safest and most secure place for it.

i usually make a crate (2x4's ripped down to ~2-1/4", and (2) pcs. Plywood, 1" foam), send it to the seller and have him pack the BG in the crate. Yes it's more expensive, but have not lost a BG yet.
