Chromebook all the way. Of course you will need to come to the dark side but it is easily the most secure and lowest cost device available today. And with the recent addition of Google Play it has 99% of the capabilities that most people use.

Buy Apple if you don't like to upgrade your hardware or tinker with settings. Oh and the Apple Store is there to help when you need a reboot. This is the majority of people and why I own the stock.
Everything else is for the DIY crowd.
With that being said I'm switching my family to Chromebooks because I'm tired.
