Quoted from trilogybeer:I was able to get into the body shop where my brother in law works today and clear the playfield.
Just curious if any of the car guys were around, what they thought?

There wasn’t anyone working there today. My brother in law did take some pictures of the playfield though.
Yeah, as you know, the possibility of the ink from the paint pens bleeding was a concern of mine but it came out nice. I put the first coat of clear on “dry” meaning I held the spray gun a little further away from the surface and moved my spray pattern faster than usual. That first coat did not look good but the dry spray is a trick that I learned years ago to prevent paint from bleeding. I let that coat flash and I was good to go from there for the next coat. This clear will get sanded again and I will do the work for the inserts (rings around them and text).
So I am happy that all the time I put into drawing on this playfield is now protected. The next scary thing I will do is make some modifications to the playfield itself. Of course these modifications should have been made before doing all the artwork but crazy shit like that happens when you decide to go a different route when you are already pretty deep into a project. Some rad stuff planned for this game that I am very excited about.
This looks cool Doug. Nice work man.
Dolly is actually my favorite Bally to play and gamble with other guys for dollars. (Provided you set that tilt extra tight.)
Can’t wait to see the finished project.
That Robot you did for Robot is sick by the way.
Good luck!
Kev
Thanks Kevin! Yeah Dolly is a great game. I’m hoping the changes I’m making to this one make it just a little better.

Used to think you were a sicko for setting a tight tilt on such a brutal game, but I gotta say, it's addictive. Gambool!
I’m a huge fan of Dolly. My only major complaint is the lower left standup for 500 pts feels worthless.
Something fun like hit that, then the top saucer is lit for a few seconds for a bonus collect would be a huge game changer.
Def pro multiball. I tore into a Hot Tip a few weeks ago for mayhem

Have you decided on side art?
Because I just ordered some Sub-Humans on Vinyl and the Crisis album came with a stencil that might be awesome for the sides.
This was in the black vinyl edition.
Nice! Yeah that is exactly what I was going to put on the sides of the cabinet. I have a vinyl cutter so I will make my own stencils but it is pretty awesome that the album came with that. I am planning on doing that on the sides and the singing skull on the sides of the back box. Hopefully picking up a cabinet for this project on Saturday.
I was able to buy a TNA cabinet from Charlie at Spooky Pinball. This is actually a TNA bottom and the back box style that they are currently using with the metal display panel. FYI this is the cabinet configuration that Spooky will use when they re-run TNA.

I’m doing No artwork on any of the plastics (just clear) so the playfield art can be seen. I am looking forward to seeing how it’s all going to look once the playfield is all populated.
I’m trying to decide if I want any artwork on the front of the cabinet. If I do any it might be the singing skull on one side of the coin door or the subhumans logo below the coin door. Maybe both? Maybe just leave it black and put a subhumans decal on the coin door? I guess we’ll see I might mock a few things up and see what I like best.
Cabinet is looking sweet. Simple, clean, bold design. Perfect meshing of old-school punk & old-school pinball.
I clear coated the cabinet and started to do some assembly. Trim will all be silver. Hinges, side rails and lockdown bar are all going to be stainless steel. Legs are non-ribbed chrome.

There wasn’t adequate space for the singing skull on either side of the coin door and I thought a subhumans logo below the coin door was unnecessary. So it’s just black.

Can you get Scott to make an APART button insert instead of START?
