Well, I had been holding off adding to this thread, but now is the time!

Yara loves clean laundry and lays on it every chance she gets. I had just brought the clean laundry up from the basement 5 minutes before...next time I walk through the room I see this. Still not sure how she got up there without knocking the whole thing over!

This next one is of Yara's litter she had about 4 years ago. Being the suckers we are we kept two of them--the 2nd and 5th ones from the left.

Finally, a pic of the happy family a few years ago before we lost our old girl Citrine (the lab). Believe it or not, she was approaching 12 when this was taken.

Quoted from zr11990:

Has anyone had a dog that developed arthritis? ...... I am really sad, In my negativenes I see this as the beginning of a terrible end where my puppy is in so much pain I have to put him down. Guys, I don't know if I could handle that. I actually think I love my dog more than anything else in my miserable existence.

Our yellow lab started intermittently limping on one of her front legs when she was 9ish or so. We thought it was due to arthritis or possibly related to a dog running full tilt into her shoulder at the dog park a while earlier. Would come and go, usually lasting a day or two, but eventually she started whining/yelping and not wanting to move occasionally. When we got imaging done at the vet turned out it was osteosarcoma in her shoulder that we caught fairly early. She was fine for quite a while on anti-inflammatories and other pain meds and was almost 13 when she passed. Keeping her a healthy weight helped a lot I think.

Not sure if the sarcoma was developing the whole time or if the earliest pain was actually due to injury. Hers was non-operable, but be sure to get imaging done if it persists, since your pup is younger, osteosarcoma is fairly common, and can be operable.

It has been years but we still miss her. She was a great big sis too.

Yara and Reba are pretty excited that the Cubs are doing well this year. Ohkee said if you put a hat on me I will never cuddle with you again.

Apparently one of our dogs is tired of the hot weather and decided to take a short siesta on the driveway shortly after I let them out. Seems like the grass would be more comfortable, but dogs are weird (and awesome). Before someone asks if she is OK, she saw a robin in the yard shortly after this pic was taken and was after it like a shot. So I guess she was just conserving her energy for the hunt.

Guests at our house might wonder why one couch back pillow looks “different.” Reba knows why!

Quoted from Pedleboy:

Does she like to go to the butcher in the store?
D.

Yep. She also likes to bag it and tag it beforehand though.

Apparently Reba thought the living room lights were disrupting her nap.

Not quite sure how she managed to get here, but she didn’t even move when I started cooking dinner.

Quoted from chuckwurt:

The new pup Sam is getting comfy.
[quoted image]

Nice collar! Does he have a matching muumuu?

Also, why is it that the comfier they get the less comfy it is for us humans?

#2614 3 years ago
Quoted from chuckwurt:

Haha. Good catch! He doesn’t but I’d love to find some to put on him and Max. Max has the same collar.
Also, since Sam has a massive thick head like pits do, I’ve been walking around the house singing, “block-head was a man! With a horr rible disease.” Haha

One of our girls, Ohkee, has a small lump on her head, so we of course sing, “Ohkee has a lumpy head” to her

Quoted from Bull:

Are they all goldens????
The one in the middle “smile” looks just like mine.
She isn’t smiling in this picture though because she misses her friend.
Mine is slightly lighter though!!!
She is looking for my girlfriends dog who isn’t with us this weekend at camp.
[quoted image]

They are Nova Scotia duck tolling retrievers. The one in the middle is mom (will be 14 in September) and the others are two of her pups and will be 10 in November. They all love the water!

I don’t understand why she picks the absolute least comfortable place in the cabin to lie down. Instead of picking one of the couches or her dog bed, she chooses the uneven threshold between the living room and the porch. And she is almost 14, so she should be a comfort queen by this point!

We always say she does it to increase blood flow to the brain to give her better dreams

Can’t believe Yara turns 14 today...no awesome cake, but she will get to go pick out a new toy today.

She’s still loving life (especially if it involves sun and water)!

Quoted from Jaybird815:

That’s funny, people don’t realize just how big those dogs are until you stand next to one, and she’s not even close to done growing, they usually don’t stop growing until around 2.

Haha, those dogs don’t realize how big they are either! (Or maybe they do and they dont care!) In-laws has four at one point and they all thought they could fit on your lap at the same time.

Spoiler alert—they couldn’t. But not for lack of trying.

Quoted from Deaconblooze:

My pup was supposed to go in to get her lady bits modded tomorrow. They put it off to April since she's entering her first heat (we had a check this morning). Not excited about this. Anyone have any advice?

Before we spayed our girls we would use boys undies and put them on so the tail sticks out the hole in the front. We would use safety pins to cinch the waistband in for a better fit and also had to slightly cut the “tail home” to fit well. Would then use panty liners inside to absorb the flow. Much cheaper than actual dog diapers, and our three girls tolerated them well and left them alone for the most part.

Your girl is quite a bit larger than ours so not sure on sizing though

If that’s what he does to something he likes, I would hate to see him confront someone or something he doesn’t like! Haha

Took pups on a four day canoe trip on the Buffalo river in Arkansas last week. They had a great time since they got to see all the scenery and do absolutely nothing to see it! Our oldest insisted on going into the tent to nap as soon as it was set up the second night. It’s hard work not napping all day!
