Quoted from zr11990:Has anyone had a dog that developed arthritis? ...... I am really sad, In my negativenes I see this as the beginning of a terrible end where my puppy is in so much pain I have to put him down. Guys, I don't know if I could handle that. I actually think I love my dog more than anything else in my miserable existence.
Our yellow lab started intermittently limping on one of her front legs when she was 9ish or so. We thought it was due to arthritis or possibly related to a dog running full tilt into her shoulder at the dog park a while earlier. Would come and go, usually lasting a day or two, but eventually she started whining/yelping and not wanting to move occasionally. When we got imaging done at the vet turned out it was osteosarcoma in her shoulder that we caught fairly early. She was fine for quite a while on anti-inflammatories and other pain meds and was almost 13 when she passed. Keeping her a healthy weight helped a lot I think.
Not sure if the sarcoma was developing the whole time or if the earliest pain was actually due to injury. Hers was non-operable, but be sure to get imaging done if it persists, since your pup is younger, osteosarcoma is fairly common, and can be operable.
It has been years but we still miss her. She was a great big sis too.
