Quoted from Blackbeard:Love the mini schnauzers..
My wife brought home a yorkie, so he'll have to do. haha.
Next one is a schnauzer though
My wife didn't want a mini schnauzer because of the beards...But eventually she caved when she saw how fricken adorable the things are. We don't do the traditional schnauzer cut, though.
I love this thread.
I took this the other day. I went downstairs to get my wife some water, and when I came back up, our dog had taken my spot in bed.
E: Here's one after I took her for a long walk. She sat like this for a good 5 minutes before she finally decided to get up and drink water.
Quoted from jwo825:Pup in the first pic has amazing eyebrows! Almost has a raccoon mask. I love it.
Ha - thanks! She's got very distinct markings that really accentuate her current emotional state. See the pic below we took this past summer on the deck. When she's happy, she shows it!
IMG_3354 (resized).JPGBeen ages since I've posted our pups.
Minnie is our first and on the left, middle one is Sulley, and the one on the right is our rescue Bodhi.
Sulley was diagnosed with idiopathic epilepsy last July. He's the primary reason I had to get out of collecting pins, arcades, videogames, etc. Little dude cost us over $15k in medical bills followed by even more due to him slipping a disc and needing physical therapy. The shit we do for our dogs, haha.
But the silver linings is that my wife started a Canine Physical Therapy business as a result. Indiana allows DPT's to practice on "patients" and doesn't define them as humans. So she can use her license to practice on dogs (while getting her official certification through CRI). All good things.
And this is another shot of Bodhi.
He came from an abused home. His original family can rot away for all I care. How someone could ever abuse an animal is beyond me. At least he's in a good home now.
Quoted from chuckwurt:Hoping for something, anything, to fall from the counter.
The worst part is that we reinforce the behavior in our home. If we've got something on the counter that we're cooking that is dog friendly, they're likely getting a bite (within reason).
I know a lot of folks are super against that. And that's fine. But we do it and let it ride!
Quoted from Coindork:Lola is one year old today.
Rather than a birthday cake, the wife gave her a cup of whipped cream with bacon bits on top.
Dog birthday treats are the best!
Our youngest pup testing out my wife's latest rehab purchases!
She's a DPT and recently got her CCRT license and can now treat canines for rehab issues. We've got a water treadmill in our garage for rehab services, too. If anyone is ever on the fence about physical therapy for their canine, I can PROMISE you it's worth it. We've seen results in our one dog who needed it and have also seen results on the dogs my wife current treats.
Quoted from RWH:Those damn hoods they put on your dogs to keep them away from wounds suck and I've yet to see a dog that likes them. When mine got her tumors removed I bought oneof those blow up doughnuts that go round their neck and it was 100% better.

This is really smart. I need to pass this along to my wife!
Quoted from screaminr:Naughty boy What did the vet say ?
They induced vomiting, gave him some antinausea, gave him fluids and charcoal, and we are going to be bringing him home soon. They suggested we leave him overnight, but we've got posttraumatic from last time we did that...My wife is able to monitor his heart rate and keep her eyes on him, so they said it was fine.
And since he's epileptic, we aren't really into leaving him 45+ minutes away from our home.
We feel pretty confident that he'll be OK, but it has made for a long and somewhat expensive night!
Thankfully I can just go in late to the office and try and get SOME sleep after this haha.
Quoted from screaminr:That sounds full-on , goes to show you how serious chocolate and dogs can be .
My greatest fear is them being bitten by a snake or hit by a car . Vet bills can be so expensive , that's why I got the highest level pet insurance I could get . You did the right thing , so I'm sure the little guy will be fine .
We don't have pet insurance on any of our dogs, but that's because, after all the research my wife and I did (and her being involved in the canine field), it was not going to be worth it. Oftentimes, for basic issues, out of pocket costs are simple and manageable. But our problem pup (the one who ate chocolate) also has epilepsy, and the elective diagnostics we had done on him when he was diagnosed would not have been covered...So it wouldn't have been worth it for us.
I think it definitely varies from person to person and pet to pet, though.
