1. The later you are, the more excited your dogs are to see you.
2. Dogs don't notice if you call them by another dog's name.
3. Dogs like it if you leave a lot of things on the floor.
4. A dog's parents never visit.
5. Dogs agree that you have to raise your voice to get your point across.
6. You never have to wait for a dog; they're ready to go 24 hours a day.
7. Dogs find you amusing when you're drunk…
8. Dogs like to go hunting and fishing.
9. A dog will not wake you up at night to ask, "If I died, would you get another dog?"
10. If a dog has babies, you can put an ad in the paper and give them away.
11. A dog will let you put a studded collar on it without calling you a pervert.
12. If a dog smells another dog on you, they don't get mad. They just think it's interesting.
13. Dogs like to ride in the back of a pickup truck.
14. If a dog leaves, it won't take half of your stuff.

Lost my girl two weeks ago today. She was 14. It's been a difficult 2 weeks. It's slowly getting easier but still not ready move food and water bowls and her bed.
After my first golden Dave past, For two weeks every morning I would get up and go to the front door to let him out. I would pause wait and still no Dave to let out.

Thanks
My wife ordered from BARKBOX, very sturdy and been here a week. But One smaller item was gutted in a day and they are sending out replacement from their large dog list. We have a Golden Retriever, English Bulldog and Beagle-Corgi mix. And it was Jack the mix puppy that tore it up, sharp teeth. In the past we bought stuffed animals 3/$1.00 at the Salvation Army store. Theose were prone to distruction. Emma who passed last month would chew the eyes off off them and the gut her blind prey.
Quoted from ajfclark:Home is where the dog hair sticks to everything except the dog.
you have not seen my truck or the wifes car!
Well Cooper stole my wallet out of my pants last night.
Cash and credit cards found on the stairs and bedroom floor.
No sign of the wallet itself. Will have to search outside.
I think Jack may have helped, he likes to gut & shred his toys.
Cooper is the Golden Retriever, Jack is the Beagle-Corgi mix

Quoted from zr11990:Would you guys have this boy fixed? He has a appointment Thursday but I feel terrible doing it. He doesn’t have papers, they mean nothing to me, but he is such a good looking guy I hate to do it. I never had any intent on breeding him though. Are they happier when fixed?[quoted image]

Years ago...
For a week or two I would get up in the morning to let Dave, my first golden outside.
I would stand there holding the door open and there was no dog to let out.
Quoted from Sputnik:Cool, Dog 1 or Dog 2... who is Jachass? I spewed beer more than once watching Jackass. Great dog name.
Jackass is dog 1, the Beagle - Corgi mix. He came to us as Jack, and our vet suggested his middle name.
Here is Jack on Christmas a year ago with a hat from Barkbox.
Cooper is our Golden retriever.
jack hat (resized).jpgQuoted from RWH:Sorry for the loss, you got them some nice markers tells me they were loved and will be missed. Hang in Bob you know it gets better with time.
The markers are scrap and or recycled granite from countertops. I get the engraving done at a local place that does grave markers and monuments. I have my own pet cemetery. We have: DAVE the dog, HANNAH the hairy child, EMMA JEAN she is prancing with the angels. I lived here since 93.

Freckles who was a Beagle/Queensland Heeler mix.
Jackass is a Beagle Corgi mix.
Jack, aka Jackass, tore his other ACL Thursday. Here his is yesterday at Michigan State University being checked out. Still smiling even tho he cant walk on his left rear leg. Today he is having surgery and tomorrow he comes home. He is still will have his front paw birth defect corrected in January.
Quoted from ImNotNorm:How did the ACL surgery go for Jack(ass)?
He is doing really good, lots of energy, but we have to limit his activity, like no stairs, and very short walks.
Quoted from ShinyBall:The dreaded ACL injury...Poor storm..Dam Squirrel edit: 12 week recovery time after that surgery.
[quoted image][quoted image]
Get well soon Storm, My beagle Jackass had ACL surgery a month ago and he is doing very well. Next moth he will have surgery to correct a birth defect that has been put off twice because he tore both ACLs in the past year.
j1 (resized).jpgQuoted from ShinyBall:Yeah, I can tell that injury/surgery is very painful, going to be a rough time for him for the 1st week, I'm guessing. Was that the way for Jackass too??
The good thing is they don't expect the other to go, said, his bones structure is really good and it had to be a traumatic all at once tear. I told him both dogs were after a squirrel on the ground going left and right... so hard turns and the other dog may have slammed into him (think football).
Anyways hopping to see him not in so much pain soon...Animals do well (better than humans) handling pain...so I know this hurts bad right now.
With Jack being a Beagle Corgi mix my wife read that he had a 80-90% chance of doing the other leg. And he has proper pain meds.
Quoted from ImNotNorm:How's Jackass doing post surgery?
Jack's ACL surgery has healed up great, runs around like new. hair on his back slow to grow in.
He is scheduled for front paw birth defect correction next month.
Quoted from pinwiztom:My own damn fault
For leaving my wallet laying about where dog could reach it. Luckily no cash or credit cards were eaten or destroyed.
I did find a $5bill fluttering about.
Recently several couch pillows also have had
corners chewed up.
The Roku remote is also missing it's purple label tag, and a few teeth marks about the case, still works though.
The guilty party below.
[quoted image][quoted image]
My golden got my wallet from the pants pocket. To be fair the pants were on the floor. Cash was OK, but several credit cards needed to be replaced.
Jackass will go in for surgery to correct a birth defect on his front paw. I bought this "donut" to replace the "cone of shame". It inflates and has a Velcro strap. He can get around with great ease compared to the cone. Which was always dragging in the snow and banging into the walls and furniture.
My bride and I will take him to Michigan State University on Monday. He has the surgery on Tuesday. Then he comes home Wednesday or Thursday.
The look on his face is priceless. He doesn't know what to make of it.
JACK DONUT (resized).jpg
Jack aka Jackass came home today. He had surgery on his left wrist to correct a birth defect. He has pins, plates and screws hold the bones in place for now. I have to keep this hyper active beagle crated for 3-4 months. Right now I have to carry him outside for potty breaks. Then a leash so he doesn't run aroundI will not post his x-rays for they are very scary.
jb (resized).jpgQuoted from ImNotNorm:Get well Jackass! Here's hoping for a great recovery!
Friday am we took Jack to his first checkup. They check the external fixation, no signs of infection and new bandage.
jack2 (resized).jpgQuoted from Strummy:Starting to share the couch!

[quoted image][quoted image]
Soon they will take over the couch.
Quoted from screaminr:That was no accident , he's missing his cone of Shame
We have an inflatable donut for him, he was out on parole at the time.
Today we took Jackass to MSU for his appointment. They took Xrays and decided to take out one set of pins and plate. Well he is very sore and is not putting any weight on his foot tonight. He goes back in one month, if the bone is healed enough the second set will come out.
J xray1 (resized).jpgJ xray2 (resized).jpgjack2 (resized).jpg
jacktwo (resized).jpgQuoted from Notapinwiz:The cone of shame oh no. I haven't seen the story behind this, but it looks like Jackass is in good hands. Dogs are very resilient and never give up. That's why to me dogs rule!
Jack had a growth plate defect at his wrist. Over the years his paw turned outwards. We had him scheduled for surgery and he tore a knee ligament which took priority, then the other knee last December. Finally in April he got his front leg fixed. The donut, air collar, replaced the cone of shame. He can move through the house with ease. and in the winter it does not become a snowplow. He is well pain medicated today and will be for the next several days. Those pins were in for about 4 months. Just before surgery his paw war rotated about 100-110 degress. So I did not buy a new pinball this year the little guy comes first.

Quoted from Sputnik:Our dogs have been known to pretend they can not read or write...
My wife thinks Jack and Abby can read
abby read (resized).jpgQuoted from pinwiztom:I assume this is Jack pre surgery from last year
otherwise you guys get a serious jump on the holiday season.
No these are from yesterday. Jack walks with a slight limp now but he is back to full Jackass. He plays with Abby Gail the golden and tears up the stairs without hesitation.
Quoted from yzfguy:You have presents under a Christmas tree in November?
Yes, my wife starts shopping in June. Wrapped most everything last week.
The tree was brought up last Wednesday.
Me I wrapped 3 prersents on Tuesday and ordered some more.
An upstairs bedroom door was left open. The room contained Xmas presents for our dogs. Jackass took a bag of treats out and had his way with them. He did not join the others to let us know it was diner time. And when we called for him, he came running with the evidence in his mouth.
jackass treats (resized).jpgQuoted from Enchantress:And he was considerate of others, didn't eat the entire bag!
I am sure he would have ate it all but he was called for diner and he came down to eat with one of the treats in his mouth...BUSTED !!!
Me thinks that the remaining treats will go to Abby Gail, Cooper, and Eddie. And Santa Paws will give Jackass the empty bag.
Quoted from Enchantress:Maybe he was just picking up the mess that “somebody” else left. It was a timing thing… Did J.A. receive a fair trial prior to his persecution..
FREE Jackass!!!!
Jackass was the only dog missing for rollcall and dinner. He came down with the evidence in his mouth.
Means, Motive, opportunity and the treat still in his mouth.
Tonight he had KP duty cleaning up. Sentence served.
Quoted from Enchantress:The remainder of the bag of doggie chew sticks have got to be here somewhere, and all these toys will be disemboweled till I find them!
This morning Jack was giving all the presents under the tree a close inspection. Sniffing out any with treats I guess.
Quoted from Enchantress:Might not be so into hockey like you thought! Try alternative programming…..No body ever asks him what HE wants to watch.
[quoted image][quoted image]
Jackass doesn't watch TV at all, no matter what the programming is.
Quoted from pinwiztom:How are your other pups taking the loss
of their house mate?
Jack seems to miss Eddie walks around looing for him. They were travel buddies, to daycare and mom's shopping trips. Also Eddie went with Jackass to -]all of Jack's appointments at MSU last year. Cooper and Abby Gail are fine. Being much older Eddie was not into playing with the others
Jack has a new friend at daycare now.
