Quoted from Razorbak86:My beagle is pretty old (born in 2001), and he sleeps all the time, too. It takes him a while to get up, too, because his joints ache when he walks.
Well, Spark was born in 2005, but I think he sleeps much because he really does not have much to do alone in the house! He's still very active and alert and he loves sniffin' around (like beagles tend to), when he's out for a walk! Of course, being 10 years old he's not the same as when he was 3, so I'm starting to go out more with him!

Quoted from blondetall:This is our latest brat, Chloe. I call her a Shitalian... Shih Tzu/Italian Greyhound mix. I got her out of a high-kill shelter on 3/3 2 hours before she was to be put down for being overly aggressive, because she growled when cornered in a cage. I got her home, gave her a bath and got over 100 fleas off before I stopped counting, gave her some good food, and she immediately curled into my husband's lap and fell asleep. We found out she belonged to a family with 5 kids, and when dad left after the divorce the mom didn't want to deal with a dog and threw her outside, then took her to the pound after telling the dad the dog ran away. I was just going to foster her, but she fit in so well with our crazy crew that she became official pretty quick. They told me that she was 10 months when I got her, so we made today her 'birthday' and are having hot dogs and doggy ice cream for the 7 dogs tonight.
Quoted from jwo825:I would suggest that if you or the wife don't have the time to not get a dog. Most kids are not up to the task and it takes time even to train those that are. I think a better route would be to offer to dog-sit on weekends or even go out to the park. I go to a fairly large park on weekends and there are often just people hanging out to pet the dogs. Everyone wins!
What u said... Definitely!
