We are pre approved for a rescue pup this coming Saturday. We were told the litter of four were all females, and just found out they are actually all males. Always had females, but wondering if adding a 5 month old boy to our 10 year old female might work out better? I get different answers from different people....same difference?

One of our dogs likes to wander onto the table. We have no idea why. But he always gives those EYES....I can't be mad at him.

LOL! Well, we think based on pics, it will be this one looking at the camera, but there are four and we are trying to stay open minded and base it on personality too. Looking for the most submissive to make it easier on our old lady.

I found this lost dog at our construction site. She was shaking and had her tail down so I called her over to me. She immediately sat on my feet and leaned against me. A Verizon employee was standing next to me and said “are you lost girl ? Where do you live?” I burst our laughing. There is a very busy road nearby so I made a collar/lead out of a piece of rope I had in my truck. I called the police to let them know in case someone had called. After about 20 min one of the guys working at the site came and said he could hear someone yelling so he started yelling back. He said “is your name Lucy ?That’s what it sounded like what he heard in the distance”. 15 min later the yelling was closer and we located the family who lost her. The police rolled up 5 min after everyone was reunited and apologized for the delay. He said “I usually have a collar and leash in the car but I couldn’t find it so I had to go all the way back to the station to get one”.

Little OTTO had to have surgery. Second time he had to have surgery to remove calciumcrystals in his urine bladder. And hes been on "special diet" (Hills urinary care c/d) ever since.

Went and left him for the procedure yesterday, and picked him up today. Sure is a strange feeling when he wasnt around. Anyhow, everything is good now. Ive taken a couple of days off work to take care of him.

Poor little guy hope he heals up quickly and completely. I know what you mean by feeling strange when they're gone, can't stop worrying about them no matter how serious the nature of their procedure. Hardest for me is having to drop them off and leave them, my babies always look at me like I'm abandoning them and I feel it. My best for you and Otto while he goes through this latest ordeal.

Those damn hoods they put on your dogs to keep them away from wounds suck and I've yet to see a dog that likes them. When mine got her tumors removed I bought oneof those blow up doughnuts that go round their neck and it was 100% better.

Yeah man. Same here.

I must say that of all the vet clinics Ive encountered, the vet I used this time, in these days with the pandemic and all going on, you cant take anything for sure. I know theres a big shortage of important animal medicine both in Sweden and Norway atm, but my vet really fscken delivered.

Im gonna bring them a large homebaked cake or a 3 kg smoked porkneck when we go to remove the stitches.

Our youngest pup testing out my wife's latest rehab purchases!

She's a DPT and recently got her CCRT license and can now treat canines for rehab issues. We've got a water treadmill in our garage for rehab services, too. If anyone is ever on the fence about physical therapy for their canine, I can PROMISE you it's worth it. We've seen results in our one dog who needed it and have also seen results on the dogs my wife current treats.

Thank you for asking. The thing is, 2.5 years ago when this shit happened for the first time I totally panicked. And the symptoms were blood from his penis after he "thought" he was done peeing. Not much blood, just a few drops. This was ofcourse due to those crystals blocking/irritating his urethra.

And after the "first time" Ive been very observative regarding little ottos urine. You can call me the piss detective.

Guess who ate a bar of dark chocolate at 11:45 PM and forced his parents to drive to the emergency vet in the middle of the night?

This isn't the first time he's had chocolate...But because it was dark, we decided to take extra precautions.

Naughty boy What did the vet say ?

Quoted from screaminr:

Naughty boy What did the vet say ?

They induced vomiting, gave him some antinausea, gave him fluids and charcoal, and we are going to be bringing him home soon. They suggested we leave him overnight, but we've got posttraumatic from last time we did that...My wife is able to monitor his heart rate and keep her eyes on him, so they said it was fine.

And since he's epileptic, we aren't really into leaving him 45+ minutes away from our home.

We feel pretty confident that he'll be OK, but it has made for a long and somewhat expensive night!

Thankfully I can just go in late to the office and try and get SOME sleep after this haha.

That sounds full-on , goes to show you how serious chocolate and dogs can be .
My greatest fear is them being bitten by a snake or hit by a car . Vet bills can be so expensive , that's why I got the highest level pet insurance I could get . You did the right thing , so I'm sure the little guy will be fine .

We don't have pet insurance on any of our dogs, but that's because, after all the research my wife and I did (and her being involved in the canine field), it was not going to be worth it. Oftentimes, for basic issues, out of pocket costs are simple and manageable. But our problem pup (the one who ate chocolate) also has epilepsy, and the elective diagnostics we had done on him when he was diagnosed would not have been covered...So it wouldn't have been worth it for us.

I think it definitely varies from person to person and pet to pet, though.
